It sounds like this is really early in the process, I wouldn't necessarily get my hopes up too high. That said, I would kind of like to see how they clean up the mess they made in those last couple seasons.

I should really go back and rewatch the X-Files series. I quit watching well before the main cast got swapped. I never even bothered with the movie. Might make this my next binge watching show once I get a couple more IT certifications out of the way. If I start a show now I will end up being stuck in the same shite job forever so training first and then binging on X-Files.

I'm doing that right now. Currently on the 4th season.

I don't think Season 8 is all that bad.
Hope this happens. I'm a huge fan and I'd love to see more.

Chris Carter is excited to do it, but he doesn't want to do a full season or more. "We're too old."

It would probably work better as a 12-13 episode season anyway. 20+ episodes per season on a show like that was pushing it. Take the time to make it a better quality sci-fi show and you might have another hit out of it. Focus more on just aliens and not the other random crap that came up just to give them a wacky adventure.

Episodes such as the Flukeman were the best.

Episodes such as the Flukeman were the best. Fringe did the wierd and unexplained way better than X-Files did. There are several non alien episodes of X that I love too but if it is going to be a limited run thing, they should stick to aliens.

Some of the alien episodes are the best, while others were pretty....bad. Like the one where Mulder's mom has a heart attack and he needs the alien to heal her.

I feel like the one-off episodes were usually done better in the original run, but there are so many shows doing the whole "freak of the week" thing that this probably isn't the best approach any more. Instead I think they should focus on the alien/conspiracy storylines and just do them better this time. They didn't work before because serialized television was in a different place in the 90s and they were blazing trails and making some early adopter mistakes, they should be able to pull it off better now.

If they do this, I want Doggett back. Robert Patrick was great in that role, he just had writers that had mostly stopped giving a shit.

And Krychic, we need Krychic back. Or did he die, I really don't remember.

I'm pretty sure he was shot in the head.
That being said, I'm sure he will be back if the actor isn't busy.

I think my favorite non-alien episode was Drive. It wasn't a freak of the week episode, those I did not like that much. It was just a solid episode with great acting.

Was Drive the one with Bryan Cranston where they had to go west?

I liked the episode with the Predator-camouflage forest people. The werewolf one was memorable, but I'm really into werewolves.
