I've been rewatching the series, halfway through first season.
I think the reason the first season was so great was because it was really about them building a community together.

My wife has been watching it for the first time. Never had her watch it before since I was fairly disappointed how it ended. I figured I'd find out what she thought, being able to watch the entire thing back to back without waits and anticipation. Had her do the same thing with the Matrix trilogy and the Star Wars OT & PT. She's about half way through season 4 I believe. Close to finding out.

It's less disappointing when you binge watch it and aren't obsessively trying to solve a mystery that was staring everyone in the face in season 1.

What was staring us in the face season 1? Purgatory That applies exclusively to the off island flashes in season 6. Everything before that point still happened.

Yeah, I don't think NE even watched the show. He's just basing the "solution' off of clickbate stuff he saw.

Season 1 is possibly my favorite season of any TV show, and yet, since the show ended I haven't returned to this show. Maybe some day.

I forget if season 3 or 4 was my favorite, up there with season 2 or 5 of 24.

On TV perfection I'd toss out maybe season 6 of The Simpsons. That's gotta be one of the most consistent episode runs of any TV show ever. Season 7 of MST, season 1 of Titus, and the first two seasons of My Name is Earl are big favorites of mine also. Drama tends to be more inconsistent with me on an episode by episode basis, because there always seems to be clunkers and filler episodes, so it's harder for me to think of any of the top of my head.
I did watch Lost beginning to end a few years back. I think it mostly holds up. Followed it up with Battlestar Galactica too.

Season 4 is probably number two for me. I think I did a weighted average of my opinions on individual episodes and 4 and 6 were in a close race but 6 came out on top. I think it was the fact that I hate Krusty Gets Kancelled that threw it for season 4.

That applies exclusively to the off island flashes in season 6. Everything before that point still happened. It's still a show about a bunch of people stranded on an island in which two God's are feuding. The religious guy dies and his body gets taken over by the evil God. The science guy, ironically, takes over as new island god. Or was that the fat guy? I don't remember. Either way, its purgatory cause they're between life and death, a pawn of these two God's.

Season 6 sucked, you'll have no argument from me there. Their backstory episode was the worst of the series, Jacob was a tool, and the actual Locke shouldn't have died until at least the finale. The finale did the most with wha ut it could to salvage that shitty shitty season and to me is still moving. The creators got too much into "we have to answer x, y and z mysteries" that they lost storytelling ability. Ending the series at season 5, with open mysteries and with a quick epilogue would've been the best way out.

Boy...ending the series with Juliet smacking an H-bomb and blowing up the fucking island...technically that would have been closure I guess...
Still, the fan rage we got for the actual finale would have been nothing compared to this alternate scenario.

While the feuding God’s thing was interesting, it felt like a different show.

Saw an article recently about how they greatly pressured her to film "sexy" scenes for the show. To the point of tears.

Saw an article recently about how they greatly pressured her to film "sexy" scenes for the show. To the point of tears. Interesting. Watching the first season as I am, her character was much stronger at the beginning to be sure.
Another observation: wow, some of the flashbacks are pointless. Some are necessary and inform the character, but others are just either boring (Charlie dating someone in order to steal from her) or too extreme to seem plausible (an elaborate hoax to steal Locke's kidney, Kate robbing a bloody bank to get a childhood memento?).

Okay, I've never seen this show but I've been meaning to give it a whirl, so I gotta ask: is it worth it? Cause I keep hearing the ending is awful.

Seasons 3 and 4 were among the best of TV to that point. I got a lot of enjoyment from the ride.
Season 6 is a disappointment no doubt, but I didnt hate the ending as much as Tornado did (He also incorrectly liked the main character).

Okay, I've never seen this show but I've been meaning to give it a whirl, so I gotta ask: is it worth it? Cause I keep hearing the ending is awful. I think people have different reactions to the ending. I know people who loved it and I know people who hated it. I think it depends on how one reacts to the big non-explanation bombshells they reveal about the Island late in the run. I liked the finale personally, because I gave Lost a lot of leeway to just do its own thing no matter how weird it got. But then again I'm a weirdo who thought The Constant was one of the worst hours of television I've ever seen, but I've been alone one that since day one, so take that with a grain of salt. I'm kinda thinking about watching Lost again myself, but I want to upgrade my discs to blu-ray first before I do.
