Ramplate, thanks! And yeah the archicture of many buildings are very nice... I mean there are some areas that aren't as nice tho, the place I live in in Edinburgh is sort of ghetto-ish but it's alright (not picworthy tho lol) And ahh Vermont, I don't know too much about Vermont but I guess it's a rather small place where everyone knows everyone kinda?

Fun fact: Dalton, GA is the carpet capital of the world!
I'm from Kansas. My city isn't known for anything, but I think we're getting Google Fiber soon... so that's exciting I guess.

People in Dalton have been living the good life. Georgia is known for its racism, misogyny, and fried foods.

I think I'm going to be visiting our customer in Dalton this summer. I've seen some other interesting places in the south. I know the few places I stopped off the highway between Dallas and Gulfport don't reflect the entire states, but Louisiana and Mississippi just seems like depressing places to live.
I can't remember which state it was, but somewhere along the drive I saw a sign advertising tomatoes on sale for $0.25 each or 2/$1.00 (or something similar... either way, the math was completely wrong)

I've lived in Wisconsin my entire life. That being said, I've lived in about 12 different cities in this state... they're all more or less the same.

Yeah it's not a large state, about a 4.5 hour drive from top to bottom Arlington has about 2,000 people so yes, you kind of know everyone in town or someone you don't know, knows someone you do know

I don't recall saying that exactly, but I was very aware of the events that took place since Oakland is just across the water. Maybe I did say that, I can't remember. Fortunately my backyard is not Oakland.

'Sup dantwan.
Nice to have a fellow European on the boards! You should speak to Alien, he lives in Scotland, too (for which you have my sympathies).
I'm from Stoke-on-Trent (just below Manchester) but I currently live in London.

Haha, well it wasn't like I was right there when it occurred but I was in college in San Francisco at the time and it was a highly publicized story in the Bay Area and obviously happened years before the Michael Brown situation in Ferguson. There were numerous riots in Oakland (though this happens all the time for any reason, people in Oakland suck) especially when the BART officer was given a very light sentence. Now, Oscar Grant was not quite the saint they portrayed him to be in the film; he had a criminal history and was kind of your stereotypical "hood rat" in Oakland. But that didn't warrant what happened to him. It's eerily similar to the Michael Brown situation. I'm curious to see what the filmmaker does next, he was a grad of USC Film School and he's a young African American filmmaker so he could be a great voice for years to come.

He is depicted as a drug dealer in the film with flashbacks to his time in prison... Yeah, but at the same time look at how it's depicted. He's only in prison because of a questionable circumstance (I forget what it was but I thought the film portrayed it as being a bit one-sided) and he's forgoing his drug dealing for a better life when he dumps all the weed out. I really liked the film, didn't have any major issues with it at all. At the same time it pretty much depicts him as a guy who was turning his life around only to have it ended, which may have been the case but it's hard to say. The point wasn't really if he was a good person or not, but rather the tragedy so I didn't really nitpick the finer details.

All the time the film take to show how nice he could be is kind of a fucked up message if you think about it. Police brutality is wrong whether or not the victim is a hardened criminal or a misunderstood soul.

Totally agree, I don't think the film was trying to drub up false sentimentality but just do something with the story, because I don't think there was a whole lot of material to work with so it was really the only angle they had.
