My top (current) top 10:
1. Cold In July was truly mindblown by this movie and I didn't expect to be, I was thinking to my self that "this is so good!" all the time watching it even got chills cause I thought it was so good
2. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes I wasn't sure if it could be as good as Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes cause I knew James Franco wasn't returning but it really was, possibly even better... One thing that definitly was better was the CGI, they were great in Rise but they are AMAZING in Dawn. Best CGI-effects ever seen, the apes really appear to be real apes.
3. 13 Sins Mark Webber finally makes a action-packed movie, not that I mind his independent dramas but it's nice to see him in something else for a change. Suspenseful thriller.
4. Housebound Very entertaining New Zealand movie that manages to combine Comedy and Horror without overdoing the comedy so much that it gets silly which alot of comedy horrors do.
5. Non Stop A very good and clever action-thriller set on a plane, one of the best of it's kind
6. Surprisingly good sequel, which packs more action in 15 minutes than the first one did in the entire movie
7. Purge: Anarchy Another surprisingly good sequel, the first one was rather mediocre but this is everything the first one should have been...
7. Maleficent A nice new take on a old story, great cast
8. Rob The Mob A very good drama-thriller with Michael Pitt in the lead as a druggie who get the brilliant idea to rob the maffia... Based on a true story
9. Blue Ruin A slow-burning crime-thriller, stellar stuff
10. Road To Paloma Albeit kinda slow, a really cool character study drama and somewhat poetic as well about a native american biker on the run after killing his mother's murderer
People might complain about the lack of Good Girl or Birdman for instance, to that I say; I have not seen those yet lol...
