News broke last August that the world of Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, based on Philip K. Dick’s short story “The Minority Report,” was headed to the small screen. Now Variety says that FOX has given the green light to the pilot for the 2015-16 season. The 2002 release, starring Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Max von Sydow, earned $358.4 million at the worldwide box office. In the film, Cruise plays Chief John Anderton, a law enforcement official working for a special police unit in Washington DC that uses a small group of individuals with precognitive abilities to stop crimes before they ever happen. According to the trade, the project from Spielberg’s Amblin TV is set 10 years after the film’s PreCrime in Washington, D.C. The drama will center on one of the three precogs who is struggling to lead a normal life because he’s haunted by visions of the future. He may find a purpose to his gift after meeting a detective haunted by her past. Max Borenstein (Godzilla) is writing and executive producing with Amblin TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. Kevin Falls will serve as showrunner and executive producer. The pilot is being developed by Twentieth Century Fox TV and Paramount TV. www.comingsoon.net/tv/news/398117-fox-gives-green-light-to-the-minority-report-pilot

I don't know why they haven't expanded their horizons beyond Blade Runner and The Minority Report. They're good books, but Dick has a ton of other great stories too.

Forgetting the other 100. Sounds like a Phillip K. Dick story.

I don't think Jibbs saw this. His opinion is needed.

Ehhh, well it doesn't look horrible, but I don't have great feelings about it.

I don't have great feelings about it. Because it's Fox? Would you be more comfortable if it aired on TNT alongside Falling Skies?

I hadn't even noticed it was Fox. Though now that you mention it, it felt very Fox.

I liked this. It has some good actors and it was interesting seeing Wilmer Valderrama in a different grown up role other than Fez

I fell asleep watching this. If you've seen one Fox sci-fi show, you've seen them all.

Eh, might be tough to find the willpower to watch it after that comment. I already felt that way about Fox sci-fi shows.

The ratings were terrible. It's gonna get cancelled. Steven Spielberg should stick to TNT.

I doubt Spielberg had much to do with it.

Now that you mention it, few substitutions in location etc and it feels sort of like a pasted over version of Sleepy Hollow

Thought the pilot was good but the 2nd ep was pretty poor. Shame they could of made a good show out of this. I'll prob watch the first season see how it goes

Why make a good show when you can just name TV shows after movies instead?
