The American flag was used during slavery times, used while killing Native Americans, used during times when blacks and women were not allowed many civil rights like voting or even using the same restrooms, Japanese internment camps, and more. No one seems to have a problem with it. Why is it any different than the Confederate flag? What the US did to the Indians and Japanese Americans was abhorrent as well - north or south though, that was done by our whole country. Native American, African, and Japanese flags are not flown on US soil either - individuals fly those on their own property - as can you.

I have no issue with the flag not flying on government buildings. I just have a problem with how it is being portrayed and also why this is happening right now.

It's politics. It started in Government I think Republicans and Democrats becoming so polarized, the press pumping things up - including the shooting incidents.
Religion has also done a good job of polarizing the public when it should bring people together in harmony.
We need more people in government and in the country that work together instead of being at odds with each other.
While it is true that not everyone who flies the Confederate battle flag is a bigot - it is still offensive to many.

When do we stop removing and hiding things because someone finds it offensive? I can literally make a case for any object in the world needing to be banned because it offends someone somehow.
Absurdity is all it is.

Put yourself in the other person's shoes and think about how you would feel. Some scars run deep.
As an example: If your neighbors started flying an ISIS flag next door - you'd feel happy about it?

Thats what i mean about the Confederate Flag originally was just an american flag colors and stars run differently. Too the real american citizens the red white and blue for native americans was sign of blood and death under generals like Custer.

The United States wasn't explicitly founded for the purposes of doing all those things, in fact most would argue that the United States was going against its founding principals while doing them, the same cannot be said of the Confederacy.

Still does not change the fact that those things were done under that flag. Way worse than the Confederate flag.......

I wonder could our flag symbol the Confederate flag. And we white american be us democrat of republican most likely have history with a confederate flag because somewhere in our family tree there was an indian, maybe even an african american and somewhere you can bet there was a Confederate Flag in our family persons home. Just because the Confederate Symbol is how it is does not mean for someone else its not the sign over slavery or bad southern reminder. Take the Nazi Flag and the symbol. Somewhere in predated time the symbol was not one of hate humor torture and what it became. Once that Nazi symbol was a symbol of peace to someone else. Yes some can use the Confederate flag with racisum but too other people the confederate flag is seen as a rebel flag. I am certain the india once symbol for peace was not originaly meant as symbol of hate.

Trying to read that dented my brain^^^^^^ Yes the Swastika used to mean something good before the Nazis used it, but it still signifies evil for many many people Put yourself in the other person's shoes and think about how you would feel. My point is the confederate flag can have different symbols for different people. Hollywood sometimes uses the rebel confederate flag as a sign of being a rebel southern. Dukes Of Hazzard General Lee. Only people who were alive back during the bad south can know what the flag truly means. Today we argue but we can't no or feel what its means. Cause today we have it much better then people during the times when the flag was in the south but then again. The KKK didn't use the Confederate flag did they. Just this dude who has soiled the flag where many southern men died.

Yeah, I get what the flag means for some people versus what it means for others but that doesn't mean we need to stamp it out completely from our sight, damnatio memoriae. There was also a Civil War game that Apple pulled for a couple days because it featured the flag. A Civil War game. The developers told Apple that they weren't going to change the game and they put it back on once they realized they were being stupid. You have to remember most people, a huge lions share of people, really aren't smart. Not only that, they follow the rest of the herd and don't quite know how to think for themselves. But all of them can vote.

So everyone knows that gay marriage is now legal throughout the US. Today the Episcopalian church said that they would perform church-sanctioned marriages between gay couples. Many people are afraid that the left is going to start going after major denominations and attempt to have their tax exempt status revoked if they don't start doing the same. What say you? Should churches still be afforded the protections they currently have regardless of their views of gay marriage?

Should churches still be afforded the protections they currently have regardless of their views of gay marriage? Personally, I don't think any churches should have a tax exempt status in the first place. However, I doubt that too many states are going to be coming after churches in the first place. The ruling was specifically about same-sex couples' right to a civil marriage licence, not their right to a religious ceremony of their choice. Keep in mind that gay marriage has been legal for over a decade in a number of states and to the best of my knowledge this hasn't come up. The much bigger battleground so far has been wedding adjacent businesses (florists, cake bakers, etc.) and likely institutions like religious schools which may opt to treat gay married employees differently. In the end they're probably worrying about nothing. www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/jurisprudence/2012/12/gay_marriage_churches_synagogues_and_mosques_won_t_be_forced_to_conduct.html

Episcopalian churches and many other liberal protestant churches have been supportive of LGBT rights since the 80s.
I grew up going to a United Church of Christ. We always had openly gay members, the only difference to the wedding ceremonies now is that they'll have legal meaning as well as religious in those states that previously didn't have those rights.
You'd be pretty surprised, but there is a very large liberal Protestant contingent in this country where this won't change much at all.

I am not trying too be sexist but can a women work as a president. I know Hilary has too be all dried up. But doesnt a president need too be calm. No offense too any women but there are things called PMS and well mood swings. Now if a women is a best option i will vote for it but what if one morning she wakes up mad and well in fawl mood. will she decide to start a war or blow an enemy off the map. I know im gonna get yelled at but last i checked men dont have mood swings. If we are stupid we are that way 24 7 and dont need a time of the month too make us worse.
