I'm less looking at the support of the left and more looking at the meltdown of the right. If Kamala weren't a threat, they'd laugh it off and say "Okay, Sleepy Joe." Instead, the temper tantrums have taken priority. They think Kamala can win.

I think both the left and the right are just reacting to the latest nuclear bomb news story of this election cycle which is the craziest of any of our lifetimes. The right saw the election as pretty much over a week ago especially after the assassination attempt and now they have to compete with someone who isn't 82 and mentally infirm which would have been their preference. The people on the right though are also aware that she's a heavily flawed candidate who people on the left are currently trying to convince themselves is actually great. Like I said, the question will be whether she can peel away as many independents and lean-right voters as Biden did and I think that's going to be a tall order considering how unpopular she is with both parties and especially independents.
