Well, my plan to avoid this queasy feeling by not watching election night coverage didn't work. Guess I'm in for at least one probably multiple days of crazymaking suspense.
It is FUCKING ABUSRD that this thing was even close. The last four years could not possibly have been worse and yet millions of people apparently lined up for more of this misery. What is wrong with people?

Biden wins Michigan by 15,000 votes. Oops, I thought it was decided but was wrong. Nothing’s gonna be decided for at least another day, but Michigan AND Wisconsin did turn blue this morning. Every vote needs to be counted. All eyes on Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia. |

The race is so tight in the remaining states that it's killing me. Biden needs to keep his lead in the states he currently has a lead in, but Nevada and Pennsylvania are still only at around 66% of the vote, so anything goes in those states. This election is a bloodbath.

I have to step in and declare that despite all the votes for Biden and Trump, I have actually won the election. Its crazy but 100% true, I just have to announce it live soon and it will become true, because when you say things out loud and claim you already won, then that's whats got to be true. Right?

This election is a bloodbath. The senate race bothers me more. The democrats flipped Arizona and Colorado but Lindsey Graham gets re-elected? I knew Moscow Mitch would win no matter what, but Graham? Then there’s Susan Collins (so far) leading in Maine. Absurd. Biden could somehow win this election but without the senate it won’t matter. |

To add to what Drac is saying, no matter who wins this election it wasn’t a repudiation of Trump or Trumpism in any way which is what it really needed to be. If Democrats were looking for a decisive kill they certainly didn’t get it, if anything it will embolden Republicans down the road to tempt back the moderate Never Trumpers. Both parties are thinking right now ‘we have an impeached President running in the middle of a pandemic and he’s still neck and neck?’
Also, considering how midterms usually go for the party in power (hello 2010, 2014 and 2018) the Democrats would need to tread lightly. Senate or no Senate if they think they are going to come in with a wave of progressive legislation they’d better think again. Spiking spending, spiking taxes and having AOC shouting that Kenmore dishwashers and Yeti coolers are natural human rights will not serve them well at all.
On the other hand if Trump wins then Democrats will run the tables in 2022 and 2024. No matter how it goes neither party should get comfortable.

Sounds like Democrats lost seats in the House which was not what they were projecting in any way. Between that and Republicans keeping the Senate (even Susan fucking Collins won again) this was not a good election for Democrats at all even if Biden wins. There really needs to be some soul searching in that party beyond 'well everyone else is racist, we're just fine.'
