We should be looking back on her life and accomplishments, instead, we're in a world of panic and she kind of has herself to blame. She was a damn fool not to step down in 2014 and if Trump ends up replacing her that will forever taint her legacy. I was just thinking how it's unfortunate her mourning will be overshadowed by politics. Then again, it's pretty fucking huge for the country, so.

I really hope this shakes some sense into the #NeverBiden people. The stakes are too god damn high to be picky.

Of Course McConnell immediatley said that Trump's nominee will get a vote as early as next Friday. I don't think he even waited an hour. Man, we're so screwed.

wow she was a tough old bird bless her for hanging in there as long as she could . The Greatest Generation is slowly disappearing (my Mom Will be 91 at the end of the month )
The problem is the Senate . They weren't going to let Obama have his choice near the end of his term. You can bet they're already be looking at their recent list

She's been on Trump's short list since he was inaugurated. Supposedly when asked about her before nominating Kavanaugh Trump said 'I'm saving Barrett for Ginsburg.'

We're in a world of panic and she kind of has herself to blame. She was a damn fool not to step down in 2014 and if Trump ends up replacing her that will forever taint her legacy. I was thinking about this yesterday. When I was in middle school, back in the 1990's, we took our first civics class and there was a whole chapter devoted to Sandra Day O'Connor. She was a big deal. The first woman in the Supreme Court. But ever since the Zoomers placed 'The Notorious' RBG alongside Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross it seems like no one gives a shit about Sandra Day O'Connor anymore. It's almost like she doesn't exist, even though she broke the same barriers. This woman was an Attorney General while RBG was still a college professor. I get that O'Connor was a conservative judge and RBG a liberal one, plus RBG was a women's rights activist, so that does indeed make RBG the superior person. But to add to your point, O'Connor, amazingly, is still alive. She outlived RBG. She could still be in the Supreme Court. But she chose to step down all the way back in 2006, allowing George W. Bush to appoint Samuel Alito. Imagine if she had pulled an RBG and had died during a Democratic presidency. The Republicans would have been pissed. She took one for the team. RBG, like you said, should have stepped down during Obama's tenure. Merrick Garland would have been in the Supreme Court right now. So yeah, RBG has a great legacy but she also fucked up big time.

Indeed. Though it should be noted that O'Connor's retirement was largely a function of the fact that her husband had Alzheimer's and she wanted to focus on taking care of him. She did not like Bush and likely would have preferred he not been the one to replace her otherwise and was reportedly bitter to have not been replaced by a woman. The husband died three years later and she was by all accounts not pleased about how things turned out.

She was reportedly bitter to have not been replaced by a woman. There was the whole Harriet Miers fiasco. lol. But yeah, at least, Trump is nominating a woman. Even if she's in a Christian cult.
