they probably won't be back in power for at least another decade or two. You’re too optimistic

They also said Democrats would be in power for a generation after Obama was elected in 2008. Fast forward two years...

Our last generation in power was Nixon-Regan-Bush and we're still paying the price. I will not tolerate this Carter erasure! The system was rigged against Carter. The 70’s and 80’s were defined by the Republicans and a lot of the shenanigans are affecting us today.

The system was rigged against Carter. The 70’s and 80’s were defined by the Republicans and a lot of the shenanigans are affecting us today. Carter literally had a Democtatic majority in each house. Carter was the Bernie Sanders of his day. The democrats hated him. Most of his reforms didn’t pass. Those that did were watered down. Add to that the recession/energy crisis and the Iranian crisis. At the time, Carter was viewed as wildly ineffective. It’s the reason he lost re-election to Regan. Regan was sold as a “badass” who would bring prosperity back to America. Although it was later discovered he was senile. Carter’s reputation has gone up. Regan’s down. But the damage been done.

He was wildly ineffective while in office, mostly because he tried to run the White House like a his State House.
He's universally thought of as one of the most ineffective Presidents by historians.
Post Presidency the man is a Saint, and he may have been while in office, he just sucked at getting it done.

he just sucked at getting it done. He was too fiscally conservative and too socially liberal. He wanted to make change, but didn't want to pay for it.

Yeah that, Carter was largely ineffective. He was viewed as a weak hayseed from Georgia. His wife, mother, and brother Billy left a bigger impression on the public. (BTW Billy Beer sucked)
The biggest thing people remember about Carter is his inability to end the Hostage Crisis, especially that horrible rescue attempt where Helicopters had a hard time operating in the desert, and 8 service members were killed.

He's done a lot since leaving office, a lot of good.
Trivia: Before he was president, he was in the Navy and lead a crew to help stop a partial meltdown in some laboratory

This incident is what Carter was hammered with during the election, which was particularly unfair. If Reagan had been President at the time, he would have given the green light for the rescue mission as well. It's not his fault that everything that could go wrong did. It's the military's responsibility to make contingency plans on military operations. The Republicans knew they could get away with using the failed rescue against Carter, so they did, while silently thanking fate for not having one of their own be saddled with it.

Regan then took credit for the rescue, which was done on the eve of the inauguration by Carter. Classy.

It's amazing how much of this BS repeats in Benghazi

I've never paid attention to Schiff before the past few months, but i have to say I'm impressed these past few days.

That was a matter of the Iranians holding off until just after the inauguration to spit in Carter's eye

Schiff and company have been doing a good job, but with the way it's set up it must feel like Groundhog Day. They could clearly state the case in 3 hours - nevermind three days.
Senators are already violating the rule that you can't leave and have to be present. It's fine to move around and stretch, but Graham went to the cloak room when they played the film clip of him arguing their same position 20 years ago when Clinton was on trial. Another Senator left an hour early yesterday, some of them are doing crossword puzzles, and playing with fidget spinners.
