Well, my sister was worried about me having enough food and shopping before the storm hit so she was going to head out to the stores for me - that was about 3 hours ago but she does live about 45 minutes from me - so I wonder how she's doing - haven't heard from her yet. She's supposed to be getting stuff for me to try to make Pot Roast with carrots, potatoes and onions - don't know what else she's bringing, but I'll just have to improvise with what I have - shouldn't turn out too bad, I like to experiment anyway. Maybe I'll just toss some unusual ingredients in there like pineapple chunks or something I like cooking with fruit. I know a slow cooker will make meat tender but fruit does it too - it helps break down the fibers in the meat. I also like sweet and spicy as a flavor combination. Pineapple, apples, orange juice, lemon juice, apricots, cherries, and sometimes berries are good to cook with. A really nice marinade I make has soy sauce, garlic, and a shot of orange juice and a few drops of liquid smoke. (good with beef or chicken)

Well, crock pot is set - I should have a nice late dinner at about 8pm or so. I did put pineapple chunks into it with the juice from the can. Fresh pineapple is much better but canned will do in a pinch.
My sister also brought some roast spice in a packet so I rubbed that all over the roast too.
Edit - just added a nice smoky crumbled dried chile for flavor

Well, I don't think I'd use that particular spice mix again, but wow. No knife needed for that dish. tender as all get out.

Oh man, Fried eggs on toast for breakfast yummeh! The only thing I miss is frying in a cast iron skillet, not those enamel coated ones - the real deal. The eggs can cook until they get those little crackly edges - I don't know of any other cooking device that will deliver an egg quite like that. When I was a kid I liked my eggs with no runny yolk, "cook 'em 'til they scream." that's how I used to order them in a restaurant lol. Nowadays I love sopping up the yolk with the toast.

I like mashing up some avocado, adding some spices and smearing that on toast. I already had muffins for breakfast, but just thinking about avocado toast made me hungry again.

I've only had avocado-ish dressing on salad, other than that I bought an avocado and basically made a mess of it trying to make guacamole without knowing what good guacamole should taste like.
Never tried it again

I eat avocado pretty much every day. My preferred method is to mash it up with some chilli, mint and a squeeze of lime (or lemon) and spread it over a muffin, topped off with some sauteed mushrooms. Foodgasm.

Anything in a crock pot is usually better with more time. I've got a pot roast on now.
For lunch I picked up some kalamata olive tiropita. It smells divine.

Natural Casing Hot Dogs are under the broiler for the game. Homemade relish, ketchup and hot mustard. Diet Coke and chips on the side

Interesting, I have seen some of that stuff before - there was a Greek pizzeria where I used to live (weird huh? the Greeks ran three pizzerias down there) and they offered gyros, baklava, and Greek salad - I had the salad once. I have sort of tried curry sauce can't say as I've had Indian food, I just picked up a jar of mild sauce to try because it had raisins in it - I love cooked raisins. It was delicious on chicken and as a pizza sauce substitute (I was out lol)

Interestingly enough, the Greeks actually invented pizza. Two of my favorite Greek dishes are spanakopita (spinach and feta wrapped in phyllo) and pastitsio (a layered pasta dish, like lasagna). Try it with ouzo, too. I worked as a waiter at a Greek restaurant a long time ago, so my love for it is rooted there.

It's time consuming. I remember the chef used to make them all the time, but he would have to start in the morning for them to be ready by dinner.

I don't like working with thin things either. I tried rice paper egg rolls once and made a mess of it all - I'll stick to won ton wrappers instead
Mmmmmm.....egg rolls
