Wasn't Rings of Power raked over the coals? I know that was Amazon and not WB but this doesn't feel like a franchise that should be milked any more that it already has been, no matter how tempting it is.

Rings of Power was awful, and the recent trailer drop for season two of it proves they learned absolutely nothing from season one. This feels almost more misguided by focusing on Gollum, a character who already had their backstory perfectly explained in the prologue of Return of the King.
Someone probably told Zaslav that Return of the King turned 20 years old and he freaked out that they hadn't milked the franchise more, threw a lot of money at Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis, and here we are.
