As a result of the Writer’s & Actor’s Strikes, Netflix will be releasing biannual engagement reports. Here is the first one. January-June 2023 assets.ctfassets.net/4cd45et68cgf/1HyknFM84ISQpeua6TjM7A/97a0a393098937a8f29c9d29c48dbfa8/What_We_Watched_A_Netflix_Engagement_Report_2023Jan-Jun.xlsxThe Night Agent: Season One was their #1 program. The Mother was their #1 movie. SnoBorderZero’s You People was #3 movie and #29 overall Doomsday’s The Gray Man is much much lower on the list. Not even gonna attempt to count where it ranked. To be fair to Doomsday, this movie is from last year, but it also illustrates how easily things get lost on streaming. This is the unfortunate truth that will come out of this strike. People are expecting TV level residuals. Yeah — that ain’t happening. I’m typing this as I scroll through the list. PhantomKnight, unless I went crosseyed, season 6 of Friends was the most watched. That’s the season that starts after Ross & Rachel get married in Vegas and Ross is reluctant to get it annulled. Then after that is resolved, Ross dates one of his students and then meets her dad (played by Bruce Willis), who Rachel dates. The season ends with Chandler proposing to Monica. I remember season 6 as the one with Fat Chandler. Season 7 is the one with awkward skinny Chandler. Alright. I got bored. Didn’t even make it to the halfway point of the list. There’s a lot of shit on Netflix. I guess agencies and accountants will be very busy throughout the holidays.

The people making Gray Man thought this was going to be the next Bourne or Wick. They were talking about sequels, spinoffs, how vast the franchise would be.
Hmmm...

And they were not coincidentally the same people making Citadel on Amazon expecting that to have multiple region specific spinoffs around the world acting as a cinematic universe.
It's almost as if coming up for a business model for your movie first and worrying about the story later is a bad idea...

Those Chris Hemsworth Extraction movies have done well. The new one was Netflix’s second most watched movie in the report. And that’s the Russo’s too. Even George Lucas had Howard the Duck. Can’t win them all.

Can’t win them all. Those aren't aspiring espionage cinematic universe movies though, they're just straight up action flicks made on John Wick principles.

Because, for my money, laugh-for-laugh, Season 6 might be the funniest Friends season. So many episodes and scenes/individual moments in that one where the delivery is so on-point.

Then again, you always did prefer later Friends. I like the early seasons, with the funnier Chandler and less dumb Joey, but I know Zoomers hate those cause they find the Ross & Rachel relationship to be cringy.

Gray Man, Ready Player One and Goosebumps have held up. You People fell off a cliff. Buy SnoBorderZero a drink at Residuals Tavern. residualstavern.com/

I'm pretty sure Gray Man was written by AI.

I'm pretty sure Gray Man was written by AI. That is just Doomsday’s pen name. Like R.L. Stine. He’s A.I. Wheeler.
