I only recently began watching this show and I've been hooked ever since. Incredible animation with an engaging story set in a really stylized Blade Runner-esque future.

From Wiki:

"The story takes place in an authoritarian future dystopia, where omnipresent public sensors continuously scan the Psycho-Pass of every citizen in range. The sensors measure mental state, personality, and the probability that the citizen will commit crimes, alerting authorities when someone exceeds accepted norms. To enforce order, the officers of the Public Safety Bureau carry hand weapons called Dominators. The story follows Akane Tsunemori, Shinya Kogami, and other members of Unit One of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division, and the crimes they investigate using Dominators."

It's by the same studio that did the first Ghost in the Shell series so I know I love how it looks.

The creator said he drew a lot of influence from Philip K. Dick and I heard it called Ghost in the Shell's successor...so I'm probably going to end up mainlining it when I finally get started heh.

Psycho-Pass was great, and probably the best anime I watched in 2014 as well as this year. I think this thread is what gave me the kick-start to watch it (thanks Justin!), but I loved the characters and the concepts it explored. This series also had one of the best villains I've seen in a long time as well. I want to talk about it, but I don't want to ruin anything for you or Jibbs.

All right. I'm up to episode 21 right now. I have to say, I'm both disappointed and impressed by the series. On the one hand, it's been consistently surprising and character driven. Shinya, however, is a really interesting character with a lot of untapped potential. But on the other hand, it's literally been beating the same drum over and over again. Sure, they've expanded quite a bit on the characters and stories, but do we really need another lengthy lecture from Makishima about human choice? There's been multiple episodes where we've had the same discussion over the central theme of the story. It just seems excessive.

So I finally manage to watch season 2 and the recent movie.

The Second season has some biiiig ideas but sadly it looks like they only had half a season's budget to do it in. It felt incredibly rushed and some secondary characters (cough*ginoza*cough) got pushed to the side. It's too bad because the arc they had was truly interesting.

The movie was more of a centralized incident but extremely well executed for my taste. Plus man it's fun seeing anime in the big screen.
