YOU SAID IT, B---H.WE'RE THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY! If you're a fan of science-fiction or... a child, you'll fall in love with Guardians of the Galaxy. It has everything you want in a space adventure story that's produced in the style of movie serials and pulp comics. It also has plenty of comedy and 1970's pop music to entertain the masses. The characters are well-acted and fun to watch. The villains are very - basic - but their make-up and costume are very memorable. I won't be surprised if many girls dress up as Nebula for Halloween. And the action scenes have the spectacle that audiences come to expect from contemporary summer blockbusters. That being said, the plot is incredibly boring. I hate to sound like a broken record, but please, can Hollywood stop making movies about planets in danger of being destroyed? At least give me 5 years of rest from this tired premise. There's a million other things this movie could have been about and it could have elevate it to a status of greatness. So for now, I'm just gonna declare Guardians of the Galaxy as an enjoyable science-fiction movie that's a 2014 front-runner for Academy Awards in make-up, costumes and art direction. Go watch it with the right crowd and have a fun time at the movie theaters. B+ says Doomsday

It's not as impressive as the home-made ones, and doesn't move as well. Hopefully they fix that.

Considering the home-made ones were simply $10/$15 dancing flowers dressed as Groots, they should.

It's looking more and more likely that Guardians will be the highest grossing movie of 2014 (domestically). That's... um... impressive.
Meanwhile, Interstellar won't even crack the Top 10. Ninja Turtles made more money! The lowest grossing Nolan movie since The Prestige.

Kids are the biggest Nolan fans, but everyone has their limits.

I don't think the average 12 year old is going to make the connection between Dark Knight and Interstellar having the same director.

I rewatched this last night, I appreciated it a bit more. I'd rank it #4 in the MCU now, up from #5.

I watched it last night too. Very fun but I wouldn't put it up with Avengers or Winter Soldier which I think are all-around better movies. It's definitely worthy of a rewatch or a few though.

I agree, I have it behind those two (and the first Iron Man) as well.

I don't think the average 12 year old is going to make the connection between Dark Knight and Interstellar having the same director. You do realize we're the generation who knew Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton before we could name all the President's. So why would you doubt a 12 year old's ability to know who Christopher Nolan is? That's probably the only director they know.

Everything is about franchises and studios now though, not directors. It's "Disney's Frozen", "Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy" "from this producer or that producer who brought you this franchise". They are sucking them in with a product line, not the director.
And I bet they know who Abrams is at least too.
