Bit long in the tooth, Pitt started great and then became just the dumbest mother fucker in the movie, but that didn't ruin it.
Still a fun movie you'd stop on cable and watch for a few commercial breaks before completely forgetting it.
I prefer the two brothers professional criminal to Pitt's more devil may care attitude.

Hi all,
I watched Bullet Train movie. It's very nice movie. They went to Tokyo, Japan. This is high speed rail. He didn't have a ticket. The attendant told him to get off the train.

So my 7 word review is "Fun, but with a lot of problems."
My problems mostly lie in the directorial style. This was made by the guy who did Deadpool 2, and it shows in a number of ways. Most notably the bloodiness of the action, which I disliked, and a few slow-mo effects at the end. And an obsession with star-power cameo as well, I suppose.
The movie reminds me of a Guy Richie movie, so depending on your opinion of him, mileage may very. There are some things that get VERY annoying, including an insistence to keep bringing up the kids show Thomas the train, or the jarring cuts to flashbacks. The actual story does come together in an interesting way, mind you, which ultimately makes it satisfying enough, especially on $3 movie day. Probably one I wont bother watching again or even remembering much of.

It's easy to look at Bullet Train and draw numerous comparisons to Guy Ritchie's work, and that's fair, but let's just say that this film is a successful homage to that style and leave the comparisons at that, shall we? Because the fact of the matter is that this movie is so energetic, fast, funny and just plain fun in its own right, that it deserves credit for that alone and not to be weighed down by endless comparisons. Director David Leitch has doubled down on giving us more stylized action romps in his days since the first John Wick (Hobbs & Shaw excluded), and Bullet Train represents him at his most successfully stylized yet. From Minute One, this movie is a relentless bullet train itself of character title cards, backstories, personalities and fight scenes that does owe a lot to similar 90's-era crime actioners of its ilk, but it's being made by people who have a clear understanding of what made those movies work. Yes, the fight scenes and choreography are highly energetic and entertaining, but it's really the characters, their personalities, conflicts and dynamics with each other that make this movie work. Brad Pitt's main character, especially, brings a lot in that regard. The fact that he's a more eccentric and conflicted figure not only adds to the film's overall tone, but also is something refreshing in and of itself, rather than having him potentially be the straight and stoic man amidst all this chaos. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry are also standouts as The Twins, as well as being the most "Ritchie-esque" characters in the whole movie. Again, it's just as much fun seeing these characters talk to each other as it is seeing them trying to kill one another. The movie, I feel, does go a little too over the top with its climax and even though the story itself is constantly entertaining, it does seem stretched thin just a little as it goes on. But overall, Bullet Train is just a wild good time and a nice way to cap off the summer.

Was this movie a joke?
I had to look up when it was shot, and sure enough, it was in November 2020. This might go down as the ultimate pandemic movie. You can tell everyone was bored out of their mind during lockdown and then just got together to make this super silly action film. The cast is so fucking random. The cameos, amazingly, are even more random. But the tone is super light and fun and the script is shockingly well constructed. The setups and payoffs all work and the humor is well done. I haven’t necessarily been a fan of David Leitch but he certainly got lucky here.

Bullet Train(12/10/2022) The original 2014 John Wick was largely believed to have been co-directed by a couple of guys named Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, though only Stahelski received credit from the DGA. Since then Stahelski has stuck with that franchise, making two sequels and is currently working on a third, while Leitch has moved on to other projects. Normally I’d have more respect for the guy making new things than the dude focused on a franchise, but I feel like time has shown that Stahelski has actually proven to be the part of the duo with more taste because Leitch’s career has been rather… annoying. He started off promising with Atomic Blonde, but then he went and made Deadpool 2 and the Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw and now he’s made Bullet Train which… feels like a product from the director of Deadpool 2 and Hobbs and Shaw. On some level I do feel obligated to give at least some nominal support toward a star-driven big budget R-rated action movie with no superheroes in this day and age, but man; this movie has a very irritating attitude. When the movie came out I heard a lot of people compare it to Guy Richie’s Snatch, and that sounds about right. Some people may view that as more of a compliment than I do, but personally I’m not a huge fan of that sort of shark and aggressive “cleverness” in my action movies. What’s more, the film’s actual action did not impress me a whole lot. It’s not terribly but coming from a co-director of John Wick I expected it to ramp up a little more. There are a couple neat moments but also a lot of silly moments and some questionable CGI. It’s certainly not the worst movie out there but it’s not nearly as cool as it thinks it is. **1/2 out of Five
