I believe the finale is this weekend, but it's actually really solid for a showtime show, good mystery, using the flashback style also helps to not be too bogged down in the Lord of the flies narrative that some other shows have been trapped in. And the casting is all pretty good.

The finale is 16th January according to imdb. Anyway I've really enjoyed this glad its getting a second season

Finale was good. It was getting to the point of convenience and a bit of contrived storytelling, but they solved that in the last few minutes and I'm def gonna be excited for season 2.

I had a free preview weekend for Showtime. Yes, I still have cable (for sports). Sue me. I used it to semi-binge the first season of Yellowjackets and also watch the season two premiere. I'm hooked! I might defy SnoBorderZero and get a Paramount/Showtime bundle. Season three of Picard is supposed to be good too. Or maybe I’ll just do a Hulu add-on. I don’t know yet. Also, someone should tell Doomsday the biker chick from the Boba Fett show is one of the main characters here. See, there is life after Robert Rodriguez. And if PhantomKnight is watching the show, yes, that’s the girl from Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children. It drove me crazy too until I finally looked her up. Between Peregrine Girl and Christina Ricci, I’m surprised Tim Burton isn’t an executive producer on this show. |

Speaking of Christina Ricci, Ricci and Samantha Hanratty are clearly the standouts on this show. I don’t totally buy Juliette Lewis and Boba Fett Biker Chick as the same character. One is a Joan Jett clone and the other is, well, Geoffrey Lewis’ daughter. I'm half expecting Robert De Niro to show up and put his thumb in her mouth. Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse are compatible, I guess, but they’re clearly “the straight men” and kinda boring in their roles. I love Jasmin Savoy Brown. She’s great in the Scream movies. And Tawny Cypress is good too. But they might as well be playing two totally different characters. I guess time will tell how Simone Kessell and Courtney Eaton pan out. The character is interesting thus far but I really hope this show doesn’t suddenly turn into Lost. And I’m the biggest Lost defender here. lol.

Not really too sure what to expect from this show but the steamed body made me cackle out loud, if you were gonna stretch it though you gotta do it like the Argentine rugby team, thin slices of human jerky drying in the sun for longer shelf life.
But this Slenderman angle that they are playing up with the 'darkness' is a bit... Eh kinda showtime-y if that makes sense but I'll stick it out if they don't stretch it too long.

This show is the new Lost. It hasn’t decided if it wants to be science based or supernatural. Either these girls/women are off their meds or there are darker forces at play. |

What are people's issues with it? The fact that they are full cannibal now? If you haven’t watched the finale, major spoiler warning… Nat (the Juliette Lewis character) is killed in the finale. She sacrifices herself for the girl she befriended in Lottie’s cult. Although the writers did find a story beat to justify this decision (they had no choice because Juliette Lewis hated working on the show and wanted to leave), they also did a 180 with the flashback version of the character.
Nat (the biker chick from the Boba Fett show) becomes the new Antler Queen at the end of the episode, despite the fact she’s been the rational one the whole time. And Coach Ben tries to kill everyone by burning down the cabin while everyone is asleep.
Meanwhile… they end the Adam Martin murder investigation and completely half assed it. It was total schlock. And ruined the Elijah Wood character in the process.
The finale is basically nonsense. The adult storyline lost all purpose. And while the wilderness storyline still has some juice left, it is disconnected from the adult one. I’ve enjoyed both seasons of the show. I like the cast and like the themes the show explores. But I’ve always been critical of the fact that the show can’t decide if it wants to be Lost or not. It bite them in the butt. The Adam Martin murder was a waste of time. Adult Lottie was a waste of time. There’s obviously nothing supernatural going on. These girls are just going crazy. The show should have been 95% wilderness and 5% adult trauma. It didn’t need all the Lost stuff. But I guess we’ll see how season 3 goes. |
