I listened to the album so Dracula wouldn’t have to. Take Taylor Swift, make it melancholy and add profanity to it and that’s the gist of it. But it’s more interesting and musically ambitious than most mainstream teen pop. And it’s more consistent than the mumbling Billie Eilish. |

I've been listening to Sour for the past few weeks. She clearly wears her influences on her sleeve, but that doesn't make this album any less enjoyable.
I even found myself watching High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
The girl can sing. Am I too old to be a fan?

Some of the music is more upbeat, but she does kind of need to get over that one breakup and fast. The new album is… surprisingly good. Thematically, it’s more of the same. I guess if it worked for Taylor Swift it’ll work for her. But she did increase the number of 2000’s-inspired teen pop-rock songs. That makes the album a lot more listenable for those that grew bored of her emo songs. If she can one day get past all these silly breakup songs (how many dudes has this girl fucked) she might end up a fairly entertaining pop-rock singer. |
