So the lady bought me a blu-ray player a couple years back as a gift. Great, thanks. Anyways, between that time and now a) my PS3 bit the bullet, b) my other blu-ray player was given to a family member which in hindsight was a bad idea and c) the blu-ray player the lady bought me died because she bought a cheap one thinking they're all the same but it was really a piece of junk, I'm kinda glad it broke to be honest. I'm still a physical media man and before I randomly buy something not too cheap but not too expensive I thought I'd ask if you guys have any recommendations. I don't have a high end or 4k tv or anything, it's about 5 years old at this point so I don't need anything that's super fancy that should be compatible with it. I'm willing to shell out a bit for something of good quality but it doesn't need to be hundreds of dollars. Whaddaya think?

I play most of my blu-rays on an Xbox One S, which doubles as a high-end 4K player. Beyond that there's not really a whole lot to buying blu-ray players, you basically just get what you pay for and the brands you've heard of (Sony, Samsung, LG) will generally work for you.

I have a Samsung 4K player, which is still about 200. Also a PS4 and a 3D blu-ray player which likely isn't on the market anymore.
I've seen reasonably priced blu-ray players on the market for about 50 bucks. Can't say which ones or if they're any good off the top of my head (they're likely bare bones without apps), but since physical is getting sparse, I imagine it's getting to a "something is better than nothing" point.

It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.

I got my parents a Sony that's about the size of an NES classic for ~$50 last year.
It does the job, but for me it's all on the ps4.
Btw, if you're planning on a next Gen gaming system, don't bother buying a 4k blu.

Btw, if you're planning on a next Gen gaming system, don't bother buying a 4k blu. Unless it's the digital only version of PS5, lol. Or a Switch. But even when Nintendo did discs you couldn't even play DVDs on them, so that goes without saying.

Don't get the panasocnic BD94, it was awful. I could always hear the disc spinning quite loudly. I had to get a new one.

The last one I had was a cheap Sony which often didn't play the disc I inserted then one day just stopped working altogether. I've been reading Amazon reviews and pretty much all of them have a lot of good reviews and a few 'DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF SHIT.' I found this one that I think should work. I have an Apple TV so I don't need to access any apps on the blu-ray player, this will be for discs only. Thanks guys!
