Hey gang we got a chance to go see Fellowship of the Ring in IMAX 4K and didn't find any reviews of the new IMAX Release.
We wanted to share our experience of IMAX Image and sound quality. (Skip to the 9 minute mark in the video for the IMAX Review)
Were sharing our thoughts, if it makes any difference in from the original theatrical release in 2001

It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.

It's a marked difference. I watched the HBOMax versions immediately before my 4k purchase.
Through the first two, but every time there's a Gandalf staff effect it's really visible.
Only a few of the effects have been raised to "aged poorly" status by the newer versions. Faramir with Frodo and Sam in the cave is one, and a few with Gollum when he's hopping around. His face still looks great though.
My only problem is no 4k player, and Movies Anywhere seems to have some severe buffering issues.
Watching ROTK extended in the next week or so, will let you know if I see anything noteworthy there.
If the last set you had was the DVD I'd say it's definitely worth it. If your last set was Blu-rays, wait for the price to come down or for a later release.

Oh I didn't notice the IMAX bit, I was just talking about the 4k ultra release from last year.
