Okay, so I re-watched Citizen Kane last night in preparation for this. Kane still enthralled me. As for Mank...
Siiiiiiiiiiigh...........
The kindest way I can put it is that I appreciated what it was trying to do more than I actually did enjoy watching it. By no means did I hate it or anything, but I just didn't connect with what it was trying to do nor the story it was trying to tell about Mank himself. I kept trying and trying, but after a certain point, I just had to accept that it wasn't clicking for me. I can't fault it for its ambition, but the execution was simply too dry for me. There were long stretches where I was fairly bored.
