It's no Desperado, but Once Upon a Time in Mexico is an awesome movie. The running time, however, did bother me a lot. El Mariachi, Agent Sands, Barillo, Gen. Marquez, Eve Mendez's character, Mickey Rourke's character, and FBI Agent Jorge Ramirez were all major characters with different storylines that connected to the war. And because of Robert Rodriguez's 1 hr and 41 min running time, it didn't allow room for story and character development.

The one thing I remember most about this movie is Johnny Depp's character getting his eyes cut out, which freaked me out a bit because when it comes to eye violence or eye stuff in general, I'm very squeamish.

I should mention that I rewatched El Mariachi and Desperado back in August. I might do a Robert Rodriguez retrospective when Sin City 2 is released on Redbox or Netflix. So if anyone wants to join me, this is your heads up.

Johnny Depp IS awesome in the movie. What a shame that we got TWO Machete movies but ZERO Agent Sands movies.
