Now THIS is a fucking X-Men movie. Look... Bryan Singer did an amazing job with X-Men and X2: X-Men United. He did the best he could given his limitations. But that's the problem. FOX tended to get in the way a lot. For example, X-Men only had a budget of $70 million. That's just... insane.
FOX is now under a lot of pressure. Avatar was a MAJOR hit, but everything else in the past year has been a total flop. So they REALLY gave Matthew Vaughn a lot of space to do his thing. And that resulted in something that I desperately wanted in an X-Men film: SCOPE.
It really bothered me that the previous trilogy was so stuck in the U.S. and Canada. This is the feakin' X-Men for crying out loud. These people go to outer space and fight in other planets. I don't want the films to go THAT extreme, but there definitely needs to be a bigger scope. And we got it here. This movie was all over the place. They were in Germany, Switzerland, England, Argentina, Russia, and Cuba. And in the U.S. we got New York, Virgina, and Miami. I loved it. I felt like the comic book FINALLY came to life.
PLUS, let's talk about the actors. Michael Fassbender, or however you spell his name, was AMAZING. For the first time in the X-Men series, I was rooting for Magneto. Seriously. I could care less about Professor X. I mean, seriously, when Magneto shot Xavier, I was like, "fuck you! Don't FORCE me to feel bad for Xavier. Don't fucking ruin this." But Matthew Vaughn, I love the man, was one step ahead. That finale when Magneto breaks out Emma Frost was so AWESOME! And can we PLEASE talk about how totally awesome his theme score was?!?!?! I'm gonna go download it RIGHT NOW.

Neverending
I've watched this movie like 3 times in the past 2 days. Thank you, Cinemax. By the way, has anyone mentioned how terrible January Jones is as Emma Frost?

I enjoyed watching January Jones as Emma Frost but I found her character kinda pointless on the whole.

That push-up bra got her knocked up, either by Matthew Vaughn or some other married man that she won't reveal to the press.

January Jones looked smoking hot. infact, i didn't even notice her performance since i was so fixated on her rack.

I felt the same the first time I watched this movie, last June. But this weekend, I watched the film like 3 times on Cinemax. So it was difficult to ignore how awful her performance is. Especially in comparison to the rest of the cast.

A fact I hope she realizes in the new season of Mad Men. Seriously.

Hendricks' recently released 'hacked' cell phone photos would agree with you.

My problem with her wasn't the performance, although it is deplorable, but the fact that she's just not sexy enough to play Emma Frost.

They should have cast Alice Eve, but obviously, she wasn't willing to have sex with the director.

The most important piece of trivia about X-Men: First Class
“This is the second time that January Jones has been cast in 1962 opposite an actor with a pork based name. The first was in Mad Men opposite Jon Hamm and then this alongside Kevin Bacon.”
