I had LOTR at 96. I mean...when I last saw them (which was mid-2000's), I just didn't care for them. Not that I thought they were awful or anything, but they didn't do much for me. Though I probably owe them a re-watch at some point.

I have a confession ... I re-watched Memento earlier this year and kind of hated it. And I used to be quite a fanboy for it.
As Phantom pointed out, there was a rant on my end about The VVitch. I have agreed with myself to re-watch it. I think films like Hereditary and Midsommar have helped me become more open-minded about what horror is, so we'll see.
I think No Country for Old Men deserves to be higher up than There Will be Blood, though.

lol, I went back and read the Witch review thread. Man, that movie must have slapped my mama or something. I was so defensively angry at it at the time.
When I re-watch it, if I end up liking it, I'll post a "I was wrong" post or something.

I never thought I'd make a connection between the two, but this week I keep thinking about the line from Inception, something to the effect of being "An Old man filled with regret, waiting to die alone" and how this line fits The Irishman perfectly.
Nonetheless, great list. I had a good time participating.

I love Master and Commander. It's a shame we never got more of them. Aren't there something like a million books? Yes! This was supposed to be the start of a franchise, the next Lord of the Rings, but for grown-ups. It worked out as well as most people expected. I remember in 2003 CS!, the movie certainly had its fans, but no one expected it to get a sequel (or sequels). Russell Crowe and Peter Weir were delusional. |

Haven't seen it since I saw it in theaters back in 2003, when I was 13. But I remember really liking it.
So I think it's absolutely a case of kids "these days", the same kids who spend hours watching others play video games, people doing shitty dances on TikTok, and other children unboxing items and reviewing it.
But...the idea of watching a two hour movie is an arduous task for them. Also, it feels like today a lot of people just like to find a meme or a moment to shit on something without even viewing it. I mean, why the fuck would I care about the opinion of someone who gave the movie a whole ten minutes? As if they're smarter than the movie and can just shit on it when really it's a reflection of them that they're total morons.
