Whatever happens with voting we're probably gonna need time to rank these movies and even watch some. I think I've seen everything but Observe and Report but idk what the score is for others. Also I'm currently moving apartments and have spotty internet (hence the long gaps between posts) so that'll slow me down.

If Google Forms doesn’t work out, how would everyone feel about posting a certain number of their rankings at a time here in this thread and building the ranked list from the bottom up based on the commonalities in rankings we may have? For example, if I had everyone post their choices for slots 100-96 or 100-90 and if enough of us have a certain movie at 100, 99, 98, etc., that’s where they would end up falling on the list? Right now, this is just a possibility and a back up in case thebtskink and I did indeed fuck up Google Forms. Or if anybody else has any suggestions...? |

So, here's the current plan for how we proceed for the actual ranking.
Since my initial plan for Google Forms turned out to basically be a bust through technical errors on the site's part, I'm thinking that, instead, I'll have everyone just submit their own ranked version of these 100 movies, either as posts here or as PMs to me. From there, I'll assign points to each movie based on where they fall on each person's list. For example, if somebody puts Inception as their #1, that'll get 100 points. If someone has it at #2, it gets 99 points and so on and so forth. Basically, it's the same system employed by Dracula's yearly CS! Top Ten thread, just on a much larger scale. I'm thinking of keeping it to PMs in order to try and retain some bit of mystery/suspense. And once totals have been calculated, I'll reveal the final list in perhaps ten-movie increments.
Also, I'm going to give everybody a time period of 2-3 weeks to submit their list. That way, they can re-watch certain movies if they so desire in order to be more sure about where they'd put them on their lists or to watch the ones they may not haven't seen yet.
I'm not sure yet when exactly I'll start the clock, since SnoBorderZero is on vacation for who knows how long. But yeah, this is where things currently stand. Does it sound good to everyone? |
