History took care of it. 99% of the World didn’t know the racist version existed until someone went digging for it and now RZA has to waste his time making ice cream truck music. Imagine 30 years ago telling the Wu-Tang Clan they’d end up doing ice cream truck music. |

The racist parody version didn't come out of nowhere, the song was a mistral show staple for a century before it became associated with ice cream trucks. It's like how swastikas technically started as a Hindu/Buddhist symbol before being appropriated by Nazis, you can know the origins but you're still not going to want to see swastikas everywhere. And whoever wrote the song is very very dead, his feelings are decidedly not relevant. |
