That's exactly what they want you to think. The goal of advertising is to poke you with a message until it lodges into your subconscious and then the next time you need to choose a wireless carrier you suddenly have Verizon's maps in your head or the next time you're buying a computer you have it in your head that Apple is for people who think different.

Don't get me started on mobile carriers. I'd rather not deal with any of that crap, but am currently on a decently budgeted unlimited plan with T-Mobile because my internet is so ass.

As for computers, personally I'm happy with a little notepad, but my family got me a Dell laptop for Christmas a few years ago, so I use that. I like my old, broken laptop better. Couldn't afford a new one if I needed one, though. That's why I need four dollars.
