Great cinematographer. Sad to hear of his passing, but 103 is impressive to say the least!

That makes 5 movies he's making almost back to back to back. Bridge of Spies, The BFG, Ready Player One, this and Indy 5.

I certainly won't argue with you. Hook is one of the most unfairly maligned movies and dare I say most underrated movies of the 90s. Underrated might seem like an over-exaggeration but considering how some curmudgeons hate it I think it's fair.

Underrated might seem like an over-exaggeration but considering how some curmudgeons hate it I think it's fair. It was hated by teens & adults in the 90's. Kids loved it. Now we're the adults. And the kids & teens of today love it too. Basically, history was on our side.

Yeah, I love Hook. One of my all-time favorites. Spielberg needs to come out and defend this movie. This AND Temple of Doom. He's too much of an apologist. Well - usually. I haven't seen him apologize for War Horse.

There's nothing to apologize for with Hook. It's a family adventure movie, and as such, it works VERY well.

I haven't seen him apologize for War Horse. Spielberg is not a fan of Hook. I believe his exact quote was "I wanna see Hook again because I so don't like that movie, and I'm hoping someday I'll see it again and perhaps like some of it."

Generally speaking, Hook is only good if you watch it as a kid. Without nostalgia, there isn't much to get excited about.

Coop is talking like he didn't dress up as Rufio for Halloween.

I just remember going to Hook with my older cousin while mom, aunt sisters and other cousin went to Beauty and the Beast. I felt pretty cool going to the "boys" movie with no adult supervision.

Hook is just way too long, especially for a kids movie. It has some great production design and Spielberg magic and I don't think it's bad, but it's sort of all over the place. It's entertaining, but not much perennial focus.

I personally think Hook has value outside of just nostalgia. The way it really delves into the character of Peter Pan, for example, as well as Dustin Hoffman's terrific turn as Captain Hook, that Spielberg magic that helps create some really emotional moments and a John Williams score that's tied with Prisoner of Azkaban as my favorite John Williams score ever.
