I just finished watching the pilot episode. It's an interesting start. Like any pilot, they have to spend a lot of time establishing the characters and making it clear to the audience where the story takes place in the Star Wars timeline. There's no shortage of standard Hollywood action team formula. Character who's the teams' muscle and isn't very bright. Check. Gadget guy. Check. Noble leader who's tough as nails, but has a heart of gold. Check. Guy that's constantly butting heads with the Noble leader because there's nothing noble about him. Check. New recruit who doesn't exactly fit in. Check. Kid sidekick who's more than they appear to be. Check.

Watching this, I have to think that Dave Feloni is a fan of Blakes 7 (1978-81), particularly the character of Avon played by Paul Darrow. The character of Crosshairs looks, sounds and behaves a great deal like Avon in the team dynamic throughout most of the episode.
