So how will it be different from Fox's Gotham?

So how will it be different from Fox's Gotham? Maybe it'll have a Batman that isn't a complete tool?

The Fox show was so enjoyable because the villains and their storylines were so much fun and just batshit (no pun intended) crazy. The Bruce/Batman origin arc was...fine, but they made a mistake having Bruce be so young.

I loved that Gotham leaned so heavily into Dick Tracy movie level kitsch and that kept me watching the show, but every time it switched to Bruce Wayne I was like "Oh my god, this fucking kid again."

Yeah, by the time he went off to train in the next-to-last episode, the moment landed with a thud. And then the last shot of the whole show, seeing that kid's face under the mask while obviously put over that of a body double...yikes. The best decision the writers of the show made was leaning more into the various villains and their own origin stories.

The best decision the writers of the show made was leaning more into the various villains and their own origin stories. Lol. The kid in the mask at the end was hysterical. They do the "In the shadows" thing for the entire episode, then at the end we get a shot of his barely out of puberty face in a cowl doing a Batman scowl, and I just lost my shit. I think Gotham had it backwards. Maybe start with the death of the Waynes, you could maybe see young Bruce coping with that for a season. After that do a time jump to Bruce leaving Gotham to train or whatever, and have the series be Gordon and Bullock dealing with the city getting worse in the years after. Then maybe you re-introduce Bruce in the final season in his 20's and that leads up to a finale when Batman finally shows up. Or do that show they abandoned to make Smallville that just follows Bruce training overseas. Anything would have been better than rich kid Smallville, herky jerky "I have a Destiny"/"I reject my Destiny"/"I must embrace my Destiny"/"MY DESTINY IS TOO MUCH" bullshit.

Jeffery Wright can do no wrong in my opinion. I never thought much of him until I saw him in Boardwalk Empire. He’s so damn sinister in that, he’s fantastic.
