Director: Woody Allen Written by Woody Allen, Marshall Brickman Starring: Woody Allen, Diane Keaton Genre: Comedy, Romance
Does not appear on 2012's Sight and Sound Poll (gigantic cowards) #31 on 1998's AFI Top 100
Comedian Alvy Singer (Woody Allen) examines the rise and fall of his relationship with struggling nightclub singer Annie Hall (Diane Keaton). Speaking directly to the audience in front of a bare background, Singer reflects briefly on his childhood and his early adult years before settling in to tell the story of how he and Annie met, fell in love, and struggled with the obstacles of modern romance, mixing surreal fantasy sequences with small moments of emotional drama.
Director: Sydney Pollack Written by Don McGuire, Larry Gelbert Starring: Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, Teri Garr Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
Does not appear on 2012's Sight and Sound Poll #62 on the 1998 AFI list
New York actor Michael Dorsey (Dustin Hoffman) is a talented perfectionist who is so hard on himself and others that his agent (Sydney Pollack) can no longer find work for him. After a soap opera audition goes poorly, Michael reinvents himself as actress Dorothy Michaels and wins the part. What was supposed to be a short-lived role turns into a long-term contract, but when Michael falls for his castmate Julie (Jessica Lange), complications develop that could wreck everything.
My votes:
Annie Hall: Cut Tootsie: Cut

Keep Annie Hall, cut Tootsie.
Granted I feel like I'd like Tootsie more now, but still, cut that shit.

Keep Annie Hall (the ultimate comedy about relationships)
Cut Tootsie (which is good, but not top 100 worthy IMO).

Annie Hall is cancelled.
Tootsie is no Mrs. Doubtfire.

BTW, did you ever formally announce what won the poll? Shouldn't have removed the poll for a bit, but i've updated the first page. His Girl Friday had 7 votes, Shining and There Will be Blood had 6 so I let all 3 in.

Annie Hall is cancelled. Tootsie is no Mrs. Doubtfire. Should take this as two cuts?

Keep Annie Hall Drop Tootsie
Tootsie is a good movie, but it doesn't belong in the AFI Top 100. I'm tempted to say drop Annie Hall, but that's based purely on the outside prejudice of Woody Allen being a creep, and Annie Hall beating out Star Wars for the Best Picture Oscar. It's a quality film that deserves a spot somewhere on the list.

Keep Annie Hall. We wouldn't have movies like When Harry Met Sally without it.

I feel like there needs to be more discussion about how other movies get onto the list. Like, having people make their pitches and try to convince everyone.

I think it's self explanatory why White Chicks should be on there.
