This pairing brought to you by the Mankiewicz family:Director: Orson Welles Written by Herman Mankiewicz Starring: Orson Welles, Joseph Cotton Genre: Biopic
#11 on 1998's AFI Top 100
When a reporter is assigned to decipher newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane's (Orson Welles) dying words, his investigation gradually reveals the fascinating portrait of a complex man who rose from obscurity to staggering heights. Though Kane's friend and colleague Jedediah Leland (Joseph Cotten), and his mistress, Susan Alexander (Dorothy Comingore), shed fragments of light on Kane's life, the reporter fears he may never penetrate the mystery of the elusive man's final word, "Rosebud."
Trivia: When I was first getting into film, my mom bought me a copy of this on DVD in high school. It was the pan-and-scan.
Director: Joseph L. Mankiewicz Written by Joseph L. Mankiewicz Starring: Bette Davis, Anne Baxter Genre: Drama
Does not appear on 2012's Sight and Sound Polls #16 on 1998's AFI Top 100
Backstage story revolving around aspiring actress Eve Harrington. Tattered and forlorn, Eve shows up in the dressing room of Broadway mega-star Margo Channing, telling a melancholy life story to Margo and her friends. Margo takes Eve under her wing, and it appears that Eve is a conniver that uses Margo.
Trivia: 33 years later, life imitated art when Anne Baxter stepped into Bette Davis' shoes to replace her on the series Hotel (1983) after she fell ill. Ms. Davis never returned to the show.
My Votes:
Citizen Kane: Keep All About Eve: Keep.

As a side note, the nomination round is after this. Four vacancies as of now, and we'll only be voting in two unless one of these is cut.

I like it a lot PG Cooper remembers All About Eve as much as he remembers the AristoCats.

I'm keeping This is Spinal Tap and nominating Avengers: Infinity War with my other.
Spinal Tap out of a need to have a more modern comedy on here, and it's the best mockumentary out there.
Avengers is more of a placeholder for the series as a whole (ala Star Wars and LOTR). It's also the best of those MCU movies.

Before I make up my mind on my two picks, just gonna ask...is there any point in persisting with Roger Rabbit? The most support it got was in the Animation round, so has the moment passed for it? Zemeckis is on the list again with Back to the Future, but am I just wasting a vote with Roger at this point?

I moved on from nominating it based on perceived lack of support, though I would like it on the list.

Dracula and PG Cooper would never support it and they hold a lot of political power in this place, like Mitch McConnell.
