YOLT is the weakest and drags, but the rad stuff is really rad. Ninjas repelling into a hollowed out volcano lair with machine guns to fight a creepy bald dude with a scar. Love it. Also the cigarette rocket launcher is cool. I go back & forth on YOLT but I’d rank it above Dr. No and Thunderball. Bold. I can't go there. I really love Dr. No and while Thunderball is a step down from the first three Bonds it has some elements I really love. Which is to say, Fiona Volpe is really hot. Also the scene where Bond is shot and wandering through a crowded street is really tense and vulnerable. |

I go back & forth on YOLT but I’d rank it above Dr. No and Thunderball. Bold. I can't go there. I really love Dr. No and while Thunderball is a step down from the first three Bonds it has some elements I really love. Which is to say, Fiona Volpe is really hot. Also the scene where Bond is shot and wandering through a crowded street is really tense and vulnerable. With Dr. No, the formula isn’t quite there yet. That works in FRWL’s favor but not so much with Dr. No. Thunderball can drag at times and Connery’s poorly trimmed eyebrows are distracting. YOLT is really the first Bond movie in which the formula is running on all cylinders. It’s a reason that’s the movie Austin Power chose to spoof. |

I just remember From Russia With Love feeling pretty dull when I watched it. Then again, I'm not the biggest Bond fan to begin with, so consider the source. It's honestly one of my favourite movies. I love it. Best blend of comic-book silliness and semi-legit cold war thriller. And the most purely Hitchcockian Bond film. The helicopter attack scene certainly evokes North by Northwest and a similar theory of suspense informs Grant's interactions with Bond on the train. Their fight scene rules too as does the film's wonderfully eccentric yet still menacing collection of villains. This, it has a unique feel to it. |

It's honestly one of my favourite movies. I love it. Best blend of comic-book silliness and semi-legit cold war thriller. And the most purely Hitchcockian Bond film. The helicopter attack scene certainly evokes North by Northwest and a similar theory of suspense informs Grant's interactions with Bond on the train. Their fight scene rules too as does the film's wonderfully eccentric yet still menacing collection of villains. This, it has a unique feel to it.  Russia advances to the round of 16.
