Fellowship is arguably the best of the three. It gets better with each viewing. Hell, the whole trilogy does.
I've come to love them even more as I've gotten older and we've seen countless bloated Hollywood tentpole attempts thrown at us over the years that fail miserably. They have no heart, no sense of storytelling, an over reliance on CGI and green screen, and are made with assembly line blandness.
So, basically, The Hobbit movies.
But BEFORE those movies, were those beautiful works of art that make up the greatest trilogy of all time.

I hated Fellowship in 2001. Might have been the first time I agreed with Richard Roeper. But I kinda dig it now. Peter Jackson hadn’t yet shaken off his Sam Raimi plagiarism. After the giant turd that was the Hobbit, it’s nice to go back and see the silly shaky cam stuff in a big budget LOTR. It’s like watching the operating room scene in Spider-Man 2. Random as hell but fun. As someone that generally hates shaky cam and isn't a fan of handheld in general compared to the smoothness of sticks, dolly, and jib shots, Jackson's camera movements in those films are fantastic. There's such a fluidity and precision to it all that works so well. He photographs the action exceptionally well and has a wealth of brilliantly designed shots throughout the trilogy. It is similar to Raimi, no doubt, but is that really a bad thing? |

I actually quite like LOTR, I especially think Two Towers is a great film. My reputation was born when ROTK came out way back when but to be fair my criticism of the movie and mockery of the fans was more a response to the absolute insanity that was taking place on the CS boards at the time. I enjoy ROTK and the extended edition all but eliminated almost every one of my criticisms of the theatrical release. Here's a short list of things that Doomsday likes to show you I'm not stone hearted: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy The Before Trilogy Star Wars - I'll even defend the prequels and their strengths while acknowledging their very apparent flaws. Most James Bond movies - I'll even defend Quantum of Solace when people make dumb claims like it being the worst James Bond movie Tim Burton Batman films Japanese cinema 80s/90s Schwarzenegger movies Pixar, at least the ones I've seen The Coen Bros. The Rocky movies, even Rocky V Most Marvel movies Christopher Nolan as a director Things I don't like: The Shape of Water DCEU movies 2000s Schwarzenegger movies Sam Raimi Spider-Man films Christopher Nolan as a writer |

Fallen Kingdom
Maybe not so much a hot take when put up against a movie like Revenge of the Sith, but I do genuinely like Fallen Kingdom.

Haven't seen Fallen Kingdom and I really don't like Revenge of the Sith, but the first Jurassic World is the most soulless and empty of modern franchise filmmmaking and I resent its success. Revenge of the Sith may be trash, but it's trash straight from the mind of George Lucas, and that makes it more interesting.

Fallen Kingdom, by the end, turns into a haunted house movie of sorts with a dinosaur roaming around a mansion and that alone is why it gets my vote.
