I liked it. I would have gladly seen it in the theater. Not an hour drive mind you. This Is The End was better, but this was still pretty funny.
More of the same from them, really. So that should give you the best idea.

Oof, I'm hearing nothing but horrible things about this. Can't say I'm surprised. I'm hearing very mixed reviews. This has become a love it or hate it type of movie. And given all the drama surrounding its release, I'm not surprised. I don't think anyone's review is genuine. I think in 6 months or a year we'll start to get more honest opinions. |

There's too much controversy surrounding the movie and the reactions have been too extreme. There's too many "this is the best" and "this is the worst" reviews right now. |

It was like watching that Vice special where they went to N. Korea and you could tell everything was fake and contrived, but then you have Rogen and Franco interjecting with their usual juvenile antics and humour. The Franco plot of really falling for Kim and connecting with him was more that I expected from this film, and I think if they had focused more on that aspect and played to that part, it would have been better. Rogen was needed to be the voice of reason, but everything aside from that was unnecessary and a waste of time.
For being a stupid-humor film, this ranks as average.

The Interview is now available to rent and own at iTune. $6 to rent. $15 to own.
Sony is reporting that The Interview, since its Christmas day release, has made $15 million online and $2.8 million at the box office.

They should have waited on the digital release. Should have given the theaters willing to show it more time. The Hobbit, Unbroken, Into the Woods and Night at the Museum 3 made more money. Granted... Ticket prices are ridiculous. A family of four watching, say, Night at the Museum costs $40-50 at the average big theaters. It costs $6 to watch The Interview online and you can watch it with a living room full of people. If anything, this will encourage movie theaters to continue raising prices and eventually there will be a major backlash that will probably put theaters out of business. Sony may have started the next wave of movie consumption. They just proved that people are willing to pay the online prices. The question now is, will a less controversial movie attract a big audience as well. It will be interesting to see which movie or studio tries this experiment. $15 million since Christmas is not to be ignored. |
