So I'm only and half way through the current slot of episodes but I'm liking the vibe of this one.
Very likable protagonist, some fairly unexpected twists so far. Great action and character design. Not afraid to get veeeery dark.
Dare I ask if anyone else is watching?

I think my "anime list" would be too mainstream. Speed Racer. Dragonball. Sailor Moon. Pokemon. Lupin the Third. Cowboy Bebop. Etc. I think the only geeky/pervy stuff I've seen is Desert Punk, Shuffle and Girls Bravo. |

And I'm just over half way and it's taken some nice little narrative twists. Definitely one of the more tightly written animes I've seen recently.
Let me know what you think when you do.
Also I need to finish Kill La Kill. So outrageously bizarre but you can't break away! 0_O

The original Gundam, Inuyasha, Tenchi, Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin, Trigun. Stuff like that (along with the usual main stream). So maybe retro is a better term? Never got to finish Desert Punk. I'm just now catching up on a lot of the series from the last several years. |

I'm also working through Gurren Lagann and I know that the same people worked on that series, and I'm am loving that one. Despite it delivering one of the worst sucker punch moments in all of anime. Never got to finish Desert Punk. The show ended on a cliffhanger. It was very - annoying - to say the least. |

So I'm caught up to the current episodes. Yeah if you like the fantasy Shonen genre, you'll like this. The character designs are fantastic.

I just caught up again today. With the ease they kill of the cast in this series, it's almost like the Walking Dead. You know they'll eventually die, but it's still a little emotional after it happens.
Rooting for the remaining members of Night Raid, as well as Wave.

They need to rename this show Akame no Plot Armor. I'm mad. Great episode. Fantastic. Best of the series thus far. Seriously. But I'm soooooo mad. Yup, great episode. I would've loved to see more of the relationship between Akame and Kurome to understand her sister's murderous resentment a little bit more. Apparently there's a prequel manga "Akame Ga Kill! Zero" that explores more of their history. I'll probably dig into it after the series is over. Also, what's up with Susanoo? We never actually saw him die, right? The last time we saw him, he and Esdeath were about to rush each other for one last clash, but they never show the outcome. I wonder if he'll pop back up. |

Oh, hehe... I'm at the same spot as you. I'm using Crunchy Roll as well, but I pay the big bucks for premium. Some of my wife's brothers and sisters use my account, plus I love dabbling in different series looking for that perfect binge anime, so it's worth it. I'm a huge Naruto fan at heart, but take year long breaks every year just to jump back into a major binge. It's been a little over a year now. and the manga just ended, so I'm just about to dive back in.

Ok. I like the characters. I really like the action and animation. I really do but this indiscriminate offing of literally everyone is sucking the soul out of the series for me at this point. Plus I've heard a bit of grumbling from manga fans that they are omitting and arranging a lot of things. I'm not sure I plan to read the manga, however. I hope in the last three episodes they can bring a sense of closure but this last one felt very rushed. :/

I finally finished the series last night. Without giving away anything, I was satisfied and disappointed with the ending at the same time, but more satisfied. I think I might give the prequel a read. On Kotaku, I came across a pretty good review that summed it up. They even addressed the issues about plot armor. Akame vs. Esdeath. Fucking fantastic. But is hard to articulate how I feel about it as a whole. It's almost feels like a precursor story to larger one. There's a lot I really liked but the constant loss of really well established character just made me...depressed. I want to care about these guys but what's the point if no one survives?
I'll write more when I'm not using my phone. It's murder to try and tag things on it.
