Awesome news! Also cool that Jackson is restoring the Let it Be documentary that's pretty tough to track down.
As much as I want Jackson to return to traditional narrative filmmaking, seems like he's found his niche in these restoration documentaries. I was a huge fan of They Shall Not Grow Old so I'm all for it.

My understanding is that the original Let it Be documentary made Yoko seem really, really, really, really annoying and I've long theorized that it's been kept out of circulation specifically to hold back some of the abuse she gets for supposedly breaking up the band.

My understanding is that the original Let it Be documentary made Yoko seem really, really, really, really annoying and I've long theorized that it's been kept out of circulation specifically to hold back some of the abuse she gets for supposedly breaking up the band. The original documentary mostly shows how much George Harrison grew to hate Paul McCartney, and how disinterested John Lennon became with the band. From a purely musical standpoint, it’s a great documentary because you see/hear how these songs went from the page to their final form. But the tension between John, Paul and George was too apparent and made the whole experience super awkward. Keep in mind the documentary was edited down as much as possible to hide all the feuding, and yet, it couldn’t hide it. That’s why its been kept out of circulation. The Beatles were never comfortable with it being out there. Only reason we’re getting a new documentary plus the re-release of the original is to stop the footage from becoming public domain. There’s some weird UK law that makes commercial art public domain if it hasn’t been “updated” in 50 years. That’s why we got those album remixes for Sgt Pepper, White Album and Abbey Road. |

Also, though the story wasn't ground breaking in They Shall Not Grow Old, its wonderful documentary filmmaking.
Highly recommend to those that haven't seen it.

SnoBorderZeroLmao. I’ve watched the original Let It Be. It does not feature all these camera angles. It shows what a hack job the original is. In fact, isn’t this the infamous scene in which George gets mad at Paul and tells him, “I won’t play at all if that’s what you want.” lol.
