I'm not really surprised though. We all heard Pixar say Toy Story 3 was the last one, but when their last few films were duds I'm sure they figured the ol' cash cow was good for one more milking.

Hopefully since Disney owns 'Star Wars' we can see Woody and Buzz meet Han and Chewie and the other classic 70's/80's action figures. Okay that would be pretty awesome! Not to mention some Marvel action figures  |

Torn makes a good point about Star Wars (and maybe Marvel) characters making an appearance, and the fact that Lasseter is back in the director's chair is pretty cool, but #3 really felt like a good way to bow out.
That said, I don't hold animation in the same regard as live-action features when it comes to leaving a franchise be, so whatevs.

#3 really felt like a good way to bow out. Pixar has released short films and TV specials that follow in the aftermath of Toy Story 3, so they never actually bowed out. And I'm guessing the success of those shorts and specials is what's leading to Toy Story 4. They know the fans are still invested in the universe. |
