They're turning everything into a musical. I was at a Fathom event the other day and they were advertising a Percy Jackson musical. I'll see the shit out of a Percy Jackson musical, but still...A PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL!

They're turning everything into a musical. I was at a Fathom event the other day and they were advertising a Percy Jackson musical. I'll see the shit out of a Percy Jackson musical, but still...A PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL! I saw the Percy Jackson musical last year. Not gonna lie...enjoyed myself.
I also happen to have tickets to this one next month.

Ok, so... yeah, there should be musical numbers, right? Otherwise, I would be like "What's the twist?" It looks exactly the same. Why didn't they feature any of the music to show off the "twist"? If you didn't know about it ahead of time, you would probably just think they remade the original for some reason.

I mean I know gen z is weird and all but would the most popular girl in school really be a bit on the chubby side? Be honest. There was controversy about that. She was also in the Broadway show and complained that the producers criticized her weight. I guess for the movie version, Tina Fey just let it slide to avoid any further backlash. The marketing for this movie stupefies me. Hollywood doesn’t know what to do with musicals. On one hand, you have Wonka, the biggest hit of the holidays. On the other hand, you have Color Purple, the most frontloaded movie of 2023. They feel their safest bet is to trick people into watching the movie. |
