Excellent! I've also since realised that I haven't seen 2001 either, which is almost as criminal. You should come over and we'll have a marathon. It's a date.

Mostly a lot of solid stuff, some veering into weaker territory (Tootsie), but some veering into awesome territory (Platoon). I'm just waiting on Nashville and The Last Picture Show. I have The Last Picture Show on its way from Netflix and my Dad's copy of American Graffiti standing by on my desk, as well as the family's copies of Cabaret, Patton and Tootsie. What I want to try to do, though, is watch these remaining films in chronological order of release, if possible.

The Last Picture Show has so far alluded me, unfortunately, along with Nashville. Once I have those, I'm done.

Nashville is in my DVD Netflix queue, along with The Deer Hunter, Platoon and Dances With Wolves. I tried looking for somewhere to rent (not buy) Last Picture Show and Nashville digitally, but no dice.

I'm not a big Nashville fan. Robert Altman just isn't my style I'm afraid except for McCabe and Mrs. Miller, that's great.

Due to much peer pressure and mockery I took care of one of the movies on my list. I noted it in my edited original post.

I'll start by listing all the remaining AFI Top 100 Movies (from both versions of the list) I've yet to see:
1998
American Graffiti Dances With Wolves The Deer Hunter Patton Platoon Tootsie
2007
Cabaret The Last Picture Show Nashville Sophie's Choice
I just watched A Clockwork Orange this afternoon and I figure if I really concentrate on this, I can wrap this list up by the end of the year.
Well...I did it!! My AFI Top 100 viewing is done as of this afternoon! At least, the main Top 100 lists. But still, it feels good.

Final thoughts? Any favs? Any you can't stand? I'm actually considering doing a list of my favorites from the list -- of the ones I hadn't already seen -- but as for least favorites? Hmmm. Well, An American In Paris sure stands out as a really bad one, I respected the significance of but still could NOT get into either Birth of a Nation or Intolerance, and I wasn't big on movies like The Grapes of Wrath, Wuthering Heights and a few others. Most of the time, I either just liked some movies or thought others were simply "meh", but there WERE still some genuine gems in there that I'm glad I finally saw.
I'm trying to decide which "list" to make my next personal project, if any.

I think Drac said he was or is going through Roger Ebert's great movies lists.

I think Drac said he was or is going through Roger Ebert's great movies lists. There's certainly that. AFI also has a few other lists, and there's also that Empire Top 500 list.
