I still don't get the decision to fully CG animate the dog. Every time I see the trailer or a commercial, it just...doesn't look good. They seriously couldn't get a trained dog?

Even worse, apparently the dog was played by someone in mo-cap a la Andy Serkis.
I'd pay good money to see Harrison Ford's initial reaction to a grown man acting like a dog and Ford having to smirk and pet him on the head.
Also how the fuck does this have semi-decent reviews? Are critics that starved for cinema in February?

Saw it just now. It's fine.
CGI sucks balls, but once the dog stops playing off of actual animals and starts to off other CGI animals it isn't as tiresome (or it just wore me down by then). They probably should have just made it an animated movie, so it didn't come off so much like Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.
I admire Harrison Ford's restraint. At his age I fully expect him to look at that dude in a mocap suit and think to himself "This is bullshit." If he was thinking that, his performance didn't reflect it. Gotta hand it to him for trying to sell it.
