It’s Taken meets Home Alone, but that’s fine, it’s entertaining. It’s mostly Rambo in name only. This could have been any direct-to-streaming Stallone movie but I guess those ain’t paying the bills no more. Gotta rely on the IP. Most amusing part, that’s relevant to Rambo, is him learning a few tricks from the Vietcong. lol. Stay for the end credits. That shit’s funny too.

It's funny when you're so much of a Taken knockoff that you have someone literally utter the line "I will find you and I will kill you" and seemingly are blissfully unaware of it.
It was exactly what I expected it to be. First Blood is still the best by a fucking mile, but the rest have their moments.

Easily the worst Rambo movie if this can even be considered a Rambo movie. Nothing about it was enjoyable, nothing was fun, only bad things happened. And what the fuck was with that Doors song? Really, what the fuck?
Coming from someone who was looking for some throwback action, this was a huge letdown. Everyone I went with hated it too. For shame, for shame.

If First Blood is like Rocky then Rambo II/III are Rocky IV. Like Rocky, First Blood tries to be a legit movie (with varying degrees of success) while Rocky IV and the two subsequent Rambo sequels are cartoony, fun romps that are meant to entertain and not take themselves seriously. Fun, entertaining, cartoony, rewatchable, hero fantasy, all things that Rambo: Last Blood isn't in any way, shape or form.

The villain is non-existent, he's just a nameless officer with aviators and it's not even Rambo doing the heavy lifting, he has a team of mercenaries that do as much as he does. Sure he saves them with the .50 cal but he isn't really given much to do. It definitely takes a step in the hardcore, uncomfortable and gory territory that isn't really found in the previous films but there's still fun to be had.

Rocky Balboa, Creed 1 & 2 are alternate universe. |
