Well, you watched the movie I least suspected you to. I figured the other movies were more to your tastes. Honestly I kinda threw in Walkabout for me. I'm glad you took a chance on it even if it didn't rock your world. For me the bizarre behavior of the characters adds to the compellingly surreal tone.

I'm thinking a simple plan, I just have to see if I can track it down first.

Upgrade
To be honest, it took a while for Upgrade to even grab my attention. The story started off as so many others before it; man has wife, wife is killed, man wants revenge. The only difference is that there was a self-driving car.
Eventually it pulled me in though, and the second act, where this guy has a computer implant which can control his body for him, essentially making him a fighting machine, got a lot more interesting. The ending mostly works as well, though it becomes a little more like standard fair again.
The human enhancement idea was done pretty well from a sci-fi point of view, and this is an area I think we are going to see more and more of. But otherwise I have a feeling this will be a movie I'll probably forget about fairly quickly. 7/10

I myself have been stressed and battling anxiety. My friend has just had a premature baby and they've been struggling to keep him alive. From my understanding things are looking up, but it's still an uphill battle. Normally when I get like this I watch stuff like The Simpsons or King of the Hill to calm me down in my spare time.
I might watch my movie today or tomorrow. Tonight I have a screening of The Great Buster to attend, but I might have time to watch something before I go.

Three Identical Strangers
Watching Three Identical Strangers was like getting two documentaries for the price of one. The first part is a feel-good tale of three identical twins, unaware of each other’s existence, all raised in different families on different tiers of the social ladder, being reunited by chance circumstances, and how they dealt with it. The second part is of the conspiracy that existed in the background of all three of their lives since the day they were born.
Great documentary. So many unbelievable circumstances, from the first time the brothers come together, to the three big reveals in the second half, it’s hard to believe this was a true story, although I vaguely remember these guys making their rounds on television when I was a child. The first half was heartwarming, but the second half really left me feeling angry. I hope the brothers that appeared in this documentary eventually get the justice they deserve, if not at least find the answers they’re looking for.
Sorry this was late, just had a baby boy 48 hours ago! Also, my two year old girl is right now watching me type this, so have to cut this short!! Thanks for the recommendation Drac!

Super sorry, this is absurdly late and is also kind of a short and vague review to boot. Really just need to get past this round.
The Wailing (2016)
The Wailing is the latest film from Na Hong-jin, the director behind the 2010 film The Chaser. It’s sort of a horror movie, but not really. On its surface it’s a new take on the zombie genre, but also kind of a take on the exorcism/possession movie, and it’s ultimately not really a movie that can easily be put into a box. In many ways it’s actually a comedy as the main protagonists are these bumbling cops, well, not really a comedy so much as a drama with more comic relief than average. It’s kind of hard to describe, also kind of hard to watch though not necessarily in a bad way. It’s kind of a weird movie and obviously I’m at a bit of a loss for words to describe it. Its tone is all over the place though in a way that’s perhaps bold rather than weak, and it’s also a bit too long, but it’s a cool movie that will please people who like quirky Asian genre movies.

I watched half of mine, but had things come up.
I'll try and watch the rest by this weekend, but I will likely drop out of the next round.

Zodiac
I'll probably keep this brief for a variety of reasons, mostly because I watched half of it about a month ago and while I didn't exactly forget what happened, it can be a bit fuzzy. It's also been a lot of fun life stuff that has been keeping me winded, and a David Fincher thriller, no matter how good, just wasn't inviting me back. Throwing myself into my blog devoted to a comedy show was better for my sanity. Forgive my tardiness, anyway.
Long story short, I liked it a lot. I'm not sure how it rates compared to Fincher's other stuff (it's been a while since I gave any a good watch), but I probably liked it about as much as Gone Girl, if not more. The unfolding of the mystery was quite interesting, while Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo, and Downey were all exceptional. The violence was interesting to me, since it wasn't particularly grandiose when it was onscreen, but rather simple but effectively related.
Very good movie. I'd probably watch it again if I were in the right frame of mind, which I usually have to be for films like this. But for now, I'm putting myself back to something lighter.

Jesus of Montreal
So...this is pretty late. I wish I had a better excuse. The reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?
I should state up front that the DVD of Jesus of Montreal I got my hands on was pretty shit. The picture looked bad, was in the wrong aspect ratio, and there were some hiccups. Normally, I wouldn't even bother with a viewing, but given how late I was for film club, I figured I wasn't allowed to be picky. The film chronicles a company of actors performing a variation of the Passion Play with some unorthodox theories about Jesus which gradually earns the ire of the Catholic Church in Quebec. Meanwhile, the main actor's life begins to resemble that of Jesus's. So, is the movie any good? I don't know, probably? The poor copy I had really made investing in Jesus of Montreal difficult, but I did like what I saw. Certainly, the film offers a compelling and lively critique of the Catholic Church's stranglehold of power in Quebec and in general I liked the film's style. Denys Arcand creates a great repertoire between his actors and the film also has some very funny moments, as well as a pretty inspired third act. All told, it's a film I definitely would like to watch again under better circumstances. For now, I'm comfortable calling it good, but the full extent to watch I probably won't be able to speak to until a second viewing.
B-
And even though I've repeatedly demonstrated I'm in no way reliable, I'm in for next round. Between Netflix, Shudder, and the Criterion Channel, I should have greater access to more stuff.
