I've always pulled for Eddie Murphy. Hope it's good!

Is this included in the deal they gave Eddie Murphy? Because if they are paying for him to come back to stand up exclusively.... Could be a Chris tucker situation all over again.

I watched this tonight. It was fun and entertaining, if a bit by the numbers. The film makers seem to have been using The Disaster Artist as a template, and to a certain extent that makes sense. Comparisons between the two are inevitable. Dolemite Is My Name is nevertheless a very different movie from The Disaster Artist, just as Dolemite and The Room are different. The challenges Moore faced in the making of his dream project were were mostly the exact opposite as those of Wiseau. Dolemite was made for about $100,000 which Rudy couldn't actually afford, and was left with virtually no options as to who to cast or be on the crew. He worked within those boundaries and accomplished exactly what he set out to create.
Eddie Murphy gives this role his all. The entire cast does an excellent job, but none of it would work without a strong lead, and he delivers. It's been too long since I've seen Eddie in anything worth my time. I hope he takes this opportunity to get his career back on track.
