He wants to play, but they're not letting him. Guy is a monster, he's not made of brittle like Marvin "Mr. Glass" Bagley.

I mean, if they baby him too much he's gonna leave the Pelicans first chance he gets. They can get away with it this year because he's a rookie and he's missed so much time with injury, but next year they need to let him spread those Pelican wings and fly.

They have a good core in New Orleans if they can retain Brandon Ingram. If they stay on the path they're on, don't count on Zion leaving the Big Easy. They rebounded from Anthony Davis really nicely.

LeBron likely won't be around, and most of the current stars will be on the decline if not out of the league entirely. But, it's usually a guarantee the East will suck so that probably will remain true.

Well, when his rookie contract is up he's a restricted free agent, will probably get max money or whatever, and then will be an unrestricted free agent after that contract. Am I wrong on how that works?

when his rookie contract is up he's a restricted free agent His contract expires in 2023. I guess LeBron could be on the way out by 2023. That would be his 20th year in the league. But Kawhi, Durant, Kyrie, Westbrook, Harden, and the Warriors will be around. Then you got younger guys like Giannis and Jimmy Butler and Anthony Davis. I'm not sure the league will be that much different than it is now.

Right, but then he'd be a restricted free agent right?
So he could sign with any team but the Pelicans could match it and he's a Pelican again.

Could. But where do you see the NBA in 2023? Do the Warriors make a comeback? Will Durant make a difference in New York? Will the Bucks/Clippers/Raptors continue their momentum?

Lol, they will 100% match whatever contract the Knicks or anyone else draws up. Warriors will be back to being great next year granted Steph and Klay are healthy. Plus they're going to get a lottery pick and can address their lack of bench depth with it. I'm still a believer in Durant. I think he's going to be back to being an elite player, even if he's not quite at his MVP level. He's got an incredible jump shot and that will soften any lack of mobility he'll likely suffer. He's key, because without him no one in the whole organization can hold Kyrie Irving (who I am not a fan of at all) accountable and you end up with another flop year like this for the Nets. Durant's return next year will be crucial for several reasons. Hard to believe Durant is the leader on this club since I find him to be a thin-skinned person, but it's true. Bucks/Clippers/Raptors will all be fine, though Clippers likely have the most certain future of them all. Kawhai isn't leaving, even if eventually they swap out Paul George for someone more reliable to be second banana. There's always the worry that Giannis leaves Milwaukee, but for the moment he seems happy and they have a clear path to the finals in the east and with the current roster. Raptors are such a strong team, but obviously the lack of a star with Leonard leaving is a void that not even Siakim can fill. I don't think they can beat the Bucks in seven games, but I'll take them over everyone else save perhaps the Celtics.

That seems so annoying to me. Bad enough that the West is so stacked but now all the action is in Cali? Fuck that. I'm ready for the East to standout. Not sure about the Bucks, but Raptors, as you say, are one a-lister away from being a force to reckon with. Who could jump ship over there? If the Raptors make the Finals again, boy, you know people gonna be lining up. Jimmy Butler and the Heat could be interesting. Celtics too.

Yeah tell me about it, all the teams in California are good except mine. I think everyday that Vlade could've drafted Luka, and chose Mr. Glass instead. But it's going to happen. Warriors are going to bounce back next season.
I think some people could be interested in the Raptors. People think "Canada?" without realizing Toronto is a HUGE city and you would basically be the big name for a whole COUNTRY! I think Kawhi winning there has changed that viewpoint somewhat so we'll see, but clearly they have a great fanbase that pack the Tim Horton's when hockey isn't on.
The East is so open right now it's almost crazy to think LeBron left it to come to the West. We need to just move to top 16 teams make the playoffs. It's embarrassing that the Wizards even got invited to the bubble lol. It's like they were the team from South Park where the Red Wings let the kids play and the other team just brutalizes them.

The crazy thing, even though I doubt it'll happen, is Giannis on the Raptors would be game over for the league. Him and Siakim, then just surround them with three point shooting, that would be amazing.

SnoBorderZero I hope LeBron loses the first round to the Blazers. That would be hilarious. It would be. Lost in the coronavirus shuffle was that the Lakers were going to be on a mission for Kobe. Doesn't seem like that's a storyline right now but maybe when they get to the playoffs? Idk, the bubble has been fun but there's a loss of luster of playing at Staples Center or something in front of fans. Feels like instead of "For Kobe!" now it's just "Let's get this shit over with!"

now it's just "Let's get this shit over with!" That's been a common criticism. For a team like the Blazers, they're fighting to get into the Playoffs. For most other teams, they're just waiting till August 14.
