thebtskink frankytEven though the Clippers are leading 3-1, the Celtics-Raptors’ game 7 got the prime time slot on Friday. I’ve had this talk with my friends. On one hand, it’s nice to get 6:40 games (tonight’s Lakers game is gonna be pretty sweet), but it’s bizarre that the west been getting all the prime time slots. I understand giving LeBron prime time (even if it’s not always warranted) but Kawhi hasn’t earned it, I don’t think. There’s been some amazing eastern games that have been pushed aside in favor of the west. It seems like yesterday there was finally some backlash about that. After that amazing double overtime Celtics-Raptors game, no one cared about that relatively boring Clippers-Nuggets game. At least on Tuesday, LeBron/Rondo put on a show after the Heat game. That Lakers-Rockets game was just as good, if not better, than the Heat advancing to the eastern finals. But Kawhi’s not bringing it. Also, I’m thankful the games will be on TNT. ESPN has shitty on-air personalities but it’s dumb that they go straight into Sportscenter instead of doing a proper post-game show. We got two elimination games. I want Chuck and the gang to break that down for 30 minutes, not ESPN’s shenanigans. I hope the NBA continues to lean towards TNT. I also wonder what it would take for WarnerMedia to steal the NBA from Disney. There’s 5 years left on the current contract. If HBO Max takes off, if AT&T continues to improve its infrastructure, maybe by that time all these games could play seamlessly on streaming services.

I mean just traditionally the west plays later. I think they just want the fans from the west to be able to see their teams.
Lakers bout to smush the rockets. Rondo taking over - get him engaged on defense and he always plays well, if rondo averaging double figures it's over. Can't compete with the short bench of the rockets (plus house did something to get banned from playing).

That’s true, but the East does get the short end of the stick. 6:40 is kinda early for people getting off work at 5 or 6 and those 9pm tip-offs can be frustrating as hell. Under normal circumstances, that double overtime game yesterday would have wrecked everyone’s sleep schedule on the east coast. Imagine that game lasting into midnight. And with everyone’s adrenaline running, would have been at least 2am by the time most people fell asleep. They need to find a happy middle. Tonight’s Lakers game is a step in the right direction. Actual game will likely start by 7:30. That’s not too bad. Maybe they’ll do 8pm for the Conference Finals. The Finals will be on ABC. Can’t imagine anything earlier than 8:30 but that would still be an improvement. |

I think its more that one game is a clincher, the other isn't. They'll probably go back to traditional timing next round.

I think its more that one game is a clincher, the other isn't. They'll probably go back to traditional timing next round. If the Clippers win, this should be the last double header. I would think the NBA would still want games every night. I think 7pm games will be the norm. Except for whichever Sunday games that ABC airs. |

I remember watching this when it aired. Loved the running gag of Chuck being fat. But looking at it now, dude wasn’t fat at all. I’ve noticed lately that the definition of “fat” has changed in our lifestyle.
