The millennial-bashing comedy of the year has arrived.
John Shaft Jr (really John Shaft the Third) seeks the help of his dad (the Sam Jackson Shaft - - yes it’s the same one) to avenge the murder of his friend.
If you ain’t a snowflake, the movie is hilarious. It shits on millennials but it’s warranted and Sam Jackson knows how to deliver funny lines. The whole premise is that Junior wants to solve a crime the modern way and Sam Jackson leads him to do it the old-fashion street-level way. Yeah, it’s eye rolling in concept but it’s done in a humorous way, and in spite of the roasting, the characters are treated like human beings (and not caricatures) and Junior gets his moments to shine. It’s an enjoyable action-comedy just in time for Father’s Day weekend. Take your dad, take your granddad and have a good time at the movies.
