At a special presentation at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood Tuesday, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave press and several hundred fans some insight into the studio’s plans for their huge superhero movie slate. It was a dizzying parade of news, announcing new titles like Black Panther and Inhumans, plus two more Avengers films. The studio released complete plans for phase 3.
Marvel revealed the title for the next Captain America film, it’s Captain America: Civil War, and the next Thor film: Thor 3: Ragnarok, slated for July 28, 2017.
Marvel also pushed the release of Doctor Strange to November 4, 2016.
Black Panther will hit theaters on November 3, 2017, starring 42 and Get on Up star Chadwick Boseman.
Feige announced that the studio will make a Captain Marvel film, set for July 6, 2018. Carol Danvers is Captain Marvel, making it the studio’s first female-centered film.
Marvel will also make an Inhumans film, set for Nov. 2, 2018.
Two more ensemble Avengers films were also dated: Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 for May 4, 2018 and Part 2 for May 2019.
Marvel has already announced dates for several phase 3 films: Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd is slated for July 17, 2015, and Captain America 3, which will include Robert Downey Jr. along with Chris Evans, is slated for May 6, 2016.
Doctor Strange has been originally dated forJuly 8, 2016, but director Scott Derrickson and Marvel have been going back and forth with finding a leading man. After negotiations with Joaquin Phoenix fell apart in early October, Benedict Cumberbatch came into talks to take on the titular role.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which will see James Gunn return to direct, will hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
The Marvel movies are currently in Phase 2 of their universe-building film slate, which will culminate with next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (hitting U.S. theaters on May 1, 2015).
But the whole notion of phases began when Marvel found itself over-performing with its initial movies, with the first wave now consisting of Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: First Avenger. Phase 1 climaxed with 2012’s Avengers, which grossed more than a billion dollars and set the stage for Marvel to secretly plan out years and years worth of possible movies.
Phase 2 includes Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Phase 1 has grossed more than $3.8 billion worldwide while Phase 2 has made $3.3 billion, with the Avengers sequel still to come.

Yeah, I'm tired of these stone business. The first Infinity War movie will be released on the 10th anniversary of Iron Man.

I was following this all day on Twitter at work, couldn't post here until just now.
I'm not super wild about The Inhumans, I still think a stand-alone Hulk film would be better received. That being said, this news is all incredible. And we get Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther (along with probably Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange). I'm so glad they're doing Ragnarok, it's one of the best Thor stories ever told. I'm glad we're getting several original properties too and not just a bunch of sequels like we did in Phase 2. Strange and Panther, Inhumans, Captain Marvel, all feels very fresh.
Also hearing they signed Boseman on for a five film deal. We know his first is in Cap 3 and he'll obviously he in his own movie and presumably both Avengers films. Is there a chance that his first film is Age of Ultron? Any bets on the final film(s)?
Also, I definitely called them splitting up the third Avengers film. Glad to see them doing that, seems like the best idea.

I assumed he would make an appearance in Avengers Age of Ultron. That would be a mark off the contract (unless otherwise noted in it), no matter how small the part is. *shrugs*

They said his first appearence is in Captain America 3, where he will be in costume, and then his solo feature. And yes, it's very likely he'll be in the two Infinity War movies. However, I highly doubt he'll be in Age of Ultron. If his solo movie is a success, they'll obviously make a sequel in Phase 4. So that "5th movie" in his original contract, where he's obviously under-paid, will come in handy.

Well Wakanda is in Age of Ultron and they're still doing random pick-up's. Wouldn't surprise me if they shot a quick scene with him.

Business-wise, it makes more sense to leave things open for a sequel. Then again, we're only speculating that he'll be in both Infinity War movies. So... time will tell.

Most of it was expected. I think the only one that caught people off-guard is Captain Marvel.

I was surprised that they announced everything in one shot. I assumed there would be a Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel film, so I wasn't surprised at that.

5/6/16 - Captain America: Civil War 11/4/16 - Doctor Strange 5/5/17 - Guardians of the Galaxy 2 7/28/17 - Thor: Ragnarok 11/3/17 - Black Panther 5/2018 - Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1 7/6/18 - Captain Marvel 11/2/18 - The Inhumans 5/2019 - Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2
I'm curious to see which characters cross over into which films. Obviously we're getting Tony Stark and T'Challa in 'Civil War'. I'm really hoping to see the Hulk in GotG2, that would be awesome. If Thor takes on Surtur in 'Ragnarok', I think Strange could make an appearance there too. Very exciting.

Marvel needed a big hype. After DC did it's big unveiling Marvel was getting called out as possibly not leading the pack anymore. Comic-con was a dud, and I saw this as a big "THIS IS MY HOUSE" moment.
Just scrolling through tumblr I have to give Marvel props - they can drive the hype so hard it turns fans to near hysteria.

Black Panther had to happen if they broke Cap's Shield - Wakanda is the only known source of Vibranium
I wish they were making a World War Hulk movie series - that was a pretty good story line

Really? I got the impression everybody was very underwhelmed by DC's announcement. I certainly didn't think their announcement gave them the advantage or anything, in fact I thought it reeked of desperation. Releasing the trailer for 'Age of Ultron' immediately regained Marvel anything they lost in the DC announcement, with today being the considerable amount of icing on the cake. That being said, I'm definitely happy to have had today. I really expected a concrete announcement on who would be playing Doctor Strange and maybe one other title; ironic considering that's really the one thing we didn't get. I'm still praying for Cumberbatch though. I do think there is a downside to all the pandemonium though. I think everybody, myself included, is now really looking to the future and kind of looking past the fact we have two new movies and our first Netflix series in 'Daredevil' all coming out within the next nine months. Today also reminded me that I need more Marvel in my life, so I'm going to try and blind buy the first season of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' on Blu-ray and work through that over the next few months.

That's why my hope is that it's somehow tied into the next 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film. That would be pretty awesome if that gang manages to stumble across the Hulk fighting in the coliseum on Sakaar.

It's kind of a silly argument that the creative team at Marvel have made for not adapting Planet Hulk. No Banner, no Banner, no Banner. They adapt popular comic storylines all the time and they always make considerable changes; why can't they make a Planet Hulk that allows Banner to de-Hulk and breathe in the air? Could have been quite the epic. Imagine 'Age of Ultron' ending with them launching Banner/Hulk into space because he's too dangerous, Banner lands on Sakaar and fights in the coliseum, runs into the Guardians, etc. Still crossing my fingers.

I'm very surprised that Avengers 3 is going to be Infinity War. Once it was made clear that Cap 3 would be Civil War, I figured that storyline would carry over into the other films of the MCU and end with Avengers 3. Instead, it looks like the entire storyline will begin and end in Captain America: Civil War. Seems like an overly epic tale to squeeze into one film.

It's where I see the most discussions and dissections of every move. People went ape over the DC stuff and I was surprised that the hype over the trailer didn't last as long as usual. Critiques and nitpicking happened almost immediately. It puts me through to a lot of articles critiquing MCU as well. Maybe that's a tiny fraction of the fandom but I like hearing the critiques holding Marvel to a higher standard. Taking Marvel as a do-no-wrong gods has left me disappointed at times. Hopefully that starts changing though since today was great. I still want my Black Widow movie though I think at this point its worth it to get into Agents of SHIELD. The last episode was setting up civil war so hard i almost started having an anxiety attack.
