Unfortunately there's no restoring Tom Hagen to the story so we'll never get that perfect follow-up. My expectations for this are certainly modest but it's an interesting project and it seems like something Coppola just wanted to do.

My expectations for this are certainly modest but it's an interesting project and it seems like something Coppola just wanted to do. Yup, I hate when salary disputes get in the way. Just read on Wikipedia that Coppola's original vision for the film was to split the story between him and Michael, which I think would've been great to have these sort of old heads of the family disputing how things should be run. Great potential for the internal conflict that helped make the first two films so great and was sorely lacking in the third film (and why we had to have so much cousin fucking instead). I agree with you, I'm not expecting much but I'll give it a look. Not like Coppola is offering up anything more than restoring his old films these days. And wine, but that's it.

It feels like they spit out a new edition of those movies every year at this point.

And they still have two versions of that.I have the blu-rays which have served me alright, maybe if I see the 4K set on a black friday sale I'll pick them up someday.

Wasn't sold until Coppola appeared. There’s a competing version with Oscar Isaac as Coppola. Battle of the Coppola’s.

It's funny how all of a sudden Hollywood will have two of the exact same projects going at once. Remember in 1992 when they made two Christopher Columbus movies? That was just 20 years ago. Wild.

That's what I thought this was Dan Fogler looks more like Coppola than Oscar Isaac, but that’s only to trick you. This is made by Paramount. They ain’t gonna shit on their own movie. So the Oscar Isaac one will be the legit one. I’ve never watched the Tom Selleck/Marlon Brando one, which I should, since it’s directed by John Glen (of James Bond fame) and produced by the Salkinds (of Superman fame). But I did watch the Gérard Depardieu/Ridley Scott one in my 8th grade history class. You’d think it would be the more accurate one but it stars a drunk Frenchman as a drunk Italian. I can’t stand for that inaccuracy.

Finally watched it. Utterly pointless and kinda ruins what is already a mediocre movie. I’ll stick to the theatrical cut.
