I didn’t fall asleep. I was just immersed in the brilliance that is this movie.
So the new Pope is cracking down on Vatican bank. Andy Garcia is the new Godfather. And now they’re watching Michael’s son, Anthony, star in an opera.
This where shit gets real.

The Godfather III
Masterpiece
Outstanding acting from everyone. Tightly edited. Great story about corruption in the Vatican. Provocateur with its incest storyline.
What more can you ask for?

The subtle hints of your lack of entertainment throughout are lovely.

If this gets us a UHD release of 1 and 2 it will have been worth it.

I mean, the good parts of III are pretty damn good. If he cuts down around it I could see it being better than what we originally got.

I've been meaning to give the trilogy a rewatch, namely because I've seen Part III only once. I'm down for a revised version and see what Coppola does with it as long as he hasn't been getting pointers from George Lucas.

Speaking of FFC, earlier in the year he showed up to the Mandalorian set to check out the setup. Apparently he was doing it with his years in the making sci-fi movie Megalopolis movie in mind. What are the odds that thing ever gets made?

What are the odds that thing ever gets made? Probably none. He left us with Twixt as his final cinematic offering. It's probably for the best that he doesn't make anything new anymore considering that movie was worse than Jack.

Holy lord that's the movie-est movie name in movie history.

I had never heard of Twixt - - - - TWIXT (2011)Twixt is about a C-list author named Hall Baltimore (Val Kilmer) who's mostly known for writing horror novels about witches. Then after the tragic death of his daughter, he loses all his motivation even though he's broke and being pressured by his wife to get back to writing. During this turbulent time, he ends up in a small town for a book signing and meets a bible thumping sheriff named Bobby LaGrange (Bruce Dern) who wants to collaborate with him on a book inspired by a series of grisly murders that have plagued the town for many years. Hall Baltimore rejects him at first but changes his mind after having vivid dreams where Edgar Allan Poe helps him solve the murders AND write his new book. That may all seem very strange, but the movie is just a metaphor for the writing process. It's very similar to the Coen brother's Barton Fink from two decades earlier. That film survived thanks to heavier commentary and good humor, but Twixt by Francis Ford Coppola, is a bit more straight-forward and not very interesting except for the dream sequences. At this point, it shouldn't be a surprise that Coppola has lost his mojo but I'll give him credit for at least trying to entertain mass audiences again.

Hal Baltimore is up there with John Matrix as the worst protagonist names ever conceived.

Is Twixt the one where he basically reenacts his son's death?

Very interested in this. Admittedly I've only seen the film once and it was a long time ago and have been meaning to do a rewatch.
New beginning and ending feels a bit like cheating, since I can't imagine he didn't have full creative control the first time around, but hey it's his movie so if he wants to improve on it 30 years later then fine.
